I did at 42. I completely burned my life down at 41 years of age. I lost all my material possessions, my job, my girlfriend of 3 years, even my freedom for 10.5 months. I started back with nothing except my immediate family's love and a couple of close friends.
You have no choice, man. You can either pick yourself up and move forward or jump off a bridge. I chose to move forward and you can too.
People will give you credit for being so resilient and courageous but in the end, you just got to keep trying to make tomorrow better than today because tomorrow is coming, right on time as scheduled. The best thing you can do is be ready for it the best way possible and whatever you do, DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS.
You're in your shoes, not theirs. You don't know their struggles just like they don't know yours.
Pick your head up and get going.

Started at forty seven , does that count. Divorced, new career, and recently a new wife.
Tried to make good decisions and learn from my mistakes. Hope I’m a better husband to this wife than last. I worked ten years of all the OT I could get to play catch up on my financial situation.
Being in control of my finances has allowed me to take some bucket list vacations, Alaska, Yellowstone,Dominican Republic and several away Tiger games.
Fell in love with a great woman that enjoys spending time with me and l hope I make her life better like she does mine. ( I do a lot more dishes)
Luck hard work and time and my fingers are still crossed.

I wouldn't have another one at 50 unless I had Donald Trump type money. I'll be 42 in a few months and couldn't imagine starting over again.

If you've had trouble having kids or it's your first it's probably no big deal. I've been raising children for 14-15 years with 5 or 6 more to go.
I don't think I have it in me to do this until I'm 60

Facing the prospect of a kid graduating HS & another graduating kindergarten the same year. Daunting

Sometimes you have no choice. The kids are the most important till college. It sucks but building a new better life is better than trodding along in a life that doesn’t love you

Family friend “started over” at 62. Went back to school and got his nursing degree by 65. Is now 74 and still working as a nurse in geriatric care. He’s super religious and felt like he was called to switch to that field.
He was scared shitless to give up his job (real estate agent) right before retirement but couldn’t foresee himself not working. Wanted to do something meaningful with his life.
Seems to have worked out well for him.

You can start over anytime. You only live once. Ditch the family and assume a new identity. And delete your TD username, just for good measure.

My kids are the best thing I ever did. Both are Tiger Grads and am hoping for grandkids within a few years.

I’m 38 and my wife is 42. No kids and separate bank accounts with separate retirement accounts. Starting over for me would mean figuring out which is the hottest dating app.
