quote:Im sorry what you asked for wasn’t good enough for you.
Estimates of when the city 100% will be up are worthless.
quote:The linemen aren’t always right. They know what they are working on next. If they tell the people they are talking to that what they’re doing will help them, it’s a good conversation.
We know people are talking to linesman who are able to give updates. We know people who just know a little about the process are able to give reasonable updates.
quote:Sure thing, guy. Huge failure. Prioritizing power is bad.
Of course I am ignorant on the power industry. But, I'm an expert on process optimization and data management. I know without seeing this what the problem is. Anyone who has ever been involved in large teams and or management knows this is is a failure of management and systems.
quote:It’s called the SCADA system. I mentioned it earlier. RTUs and smart meters. But even that isn’t reliable. Keep up.
You keep saying it's too hard to gather all of the info and report. That's why people create systems.
quote:I do. It’s you who doesnt understand. I spend 8 years supporting an EMS system and switching desk. The application and servers that did automatic generation control and remote switching was my baby. At least for a little while until they moved the generation to a new system. I understand the data. Who is making the plans. Who is working to get things done. Inserting a customer service arm to get information out when a 24 hour desk is constantly working to coordinate and move things along only slows down the process. We don’t want slower.
It's crazy to me that you are in IT and don't have an understanding of the things we are discussing.
quote:You said 100. If you want neighborhood level information you’re going to need hundreds of people. We are talking almost a million people across a huge area and that’s just one company. Again, don’t be simple.
Simple arithmetic suggests you are wrong. And, it wouldn't take 100s of people. But, you probably know that.
quote:
This is something that should probably be an arm of the marketing department that has technical people on staff that can receive all of the internal engineering updates and planning and can take it and disseminate it to the customers.
You are so ignorant. You are arguing and think you are providing a solution to something you don’t understand.

Still out in my neighborhood off of Kenilworth. It doesn't seem like we had any damage in the neighborhood but we're still dark while everyone around us is getting back up.

I don’t even have Entergy. I’ve just been behind the scenes and know that a customer is most satisfied when the power is back and nearly anything you say gets scrutinized or complained about. So as a company, you focus all your efforts on getting things back as quickly as possible and let that be the message. Paying people the come up with unreliable estimates is a waste of resources.
Then tell us you can’t give estimates. Don’t string us along teasing estimates for 2 days just to send the same estimate to the whole parish.

What is going on with JT? It seems like we are going to be last. Not a single tree down since Wednesday but no power

There is literally a power restoration/estimates thread right below this one. Please post this there and leave this thread for power on/off and worker updates

I have nothing but the utmost respect and appreciation for the guys repairing the power grid, but it is really hard to not blow a gasket watching everyone else around you get power as you sit in the dark. I am sure there is a reason, but it's getting real old.

Yeah I’m on my last bit of patience. Absolutely no damage around me and the feeder areas have been clean for days. Wtf.

You get up and get out of the house in IEJT, it sounds like a big factory with the generator sounds.
I'm going to lose it if my kids don't have school on tuesday and there is still now power.
On top of that, the internet hubs are down with no power.

Thanks for the info. Only real information I’ve received as to why we are still out.
Do we know what line it is that is down?
That, I don't know. But from what I can gather it is creating an issue with the substation.
My impression is that the JT area is somewhat of an island in the sense that its substation/transmission line has to be fixed in order to have power. Can't just switch in from somewhere else.
Hopefully with more and more places in EBR coming on there will be more available manpower to focus on the areas that still don't have it.

Forgive my ignorance, what does it take to fix a substation/transmission line?
they have about 1000 lineman working in the city

I saw Entergy released a NOLA update with expected dates for when power will be restored. Has Entergy provided any info on BR? I'm in southdowns and had power for a day or two, but then lost it on 9/1
