Yeah beach 100%, frick winters and snow
Late July amd August when it get hotter than hell, I spend 2 weeks in Ouray and Silverton for some overlanding.
Great way to escape the Gulf Coast heat.
I use to live in Chicago, never want that kinda weather again

I gotta go mountain. A mountain town like Estes Park, Colorado. No matter where you lived in town you would see mountains everywhere.
Close. Telluride would be my first, second, third, and final choice of places to live. Once my youngest graduates high school I am going to move there. Even if I have to work the freaking chair lift I am moving there.

Beach
Find a nice fishing spot and I'd never leave the water

We’ve been full time at a beach town for the last year. We walk the beach and take the kayaks/SUPs out, but hardly ever sit out there.
The high temp is usually in the 70s or 80s.
Most of the island stayed open through winter. A lot of people were remote working and restaurants needed to make up income lost in March/April.
Mostly full timers and weekenders around us.
The only drawback so far was we got the worst of the gas shortage in May. The night Isaias blew through wasn’t fun either.

I'd live in Lake Tahoe that way I'd get both. Beautiful mountains with deep blue lake and sandy beach.

In my state of Georgia the demographics point to Fannin and Union county as the most preferable.
So, mountain

Beach town or mountain town?
I'm an old salt so it's beach town every day for me.

Mountains for sure! Always loved the mountains, and hopefully can live near mountains one day.

Beach. They are closer to society and I can't stand cold winters.

I don’t have to follow the rules

I don't love the mountains and beach equally. I don't like the beach all that much at all. So, give me the mountains every day over any beach.

Live in the mountains, visit the beach during the winter

Beach. You can keep the brake smell and going two miles in 30 mins in those mountains

Mountain, I hate being hot. Sand also sucks and you can't get rid of that junk once it gets on you/apparel.
