Do they even fricking work? Someone left two of them in a used truck I bought and I tried using them for a little bit.

Motherfrickers are constantly going off even on interstate. I had to quit using them because it was driving me crazy going off every couple of minutes.

You need a good one. And yes, they work well if used properly.

They're almost useless if you're the only person on the road or interstate/highway. You need cars in front of you, way in front, to get cops to use their radar or laser detector on them so you know it's coming.

My beltronics could read, supposedly, up to 7 miles out.

I never once got a ticket while using it properly. I got a tix once but this was before I realized being the only car on the road wasn't the right way.

I always muted mine but kept it within my eyesight to see if people ahead of me were getting hits.

So now you have to pay for the ticket AND an additional $500? That’s like paying for three or four tickets.

We have Escort 360 Max detectors in both our cars. Love them! They have never let me down. Very long detection range and good false alert filtering. Plus they have a cloud based network lsimilar to Waze. If you hit a button it shares with everyone else.

I'll let you have my wife for $500, she will constantly update you on how fast you're going compared to the posted speed limit, she will notify you every time a light is turned yellow, and she will point out every cop that pops up on her waze app while you are driving.

Waze does this for free.

Some cops use Lidar now.

This is true and has been for years. But a cop must be stationary in order to used Lidar.

Waze is a good countermeasure for this, as well as instant-on radar (although most detectors can pick this up rather easily).

Rocky Mountain radar is $399

I hope you're joking. It's absolute garbage and doesn't block police radar as it claims. Hell, it barely even alerts to police radar.

So someone was going maybe 35 or so in a 45 and you didn't realize you were going 73 to pass them?

I've had a V1 for about 12 years and had to send it off once a few years ago to have it updated...it's never let me down so far

Just use Waze - I've never been surprised by a cop with it.
