Baton Rouge has already been awarded an expansion team to start playing nest season.

Can you provide a link? I haven't seen anything saying this so far, just that this was a trial to gauge interest. If BR already has the contract that would be good news.

if Kip the GBRMOAT was still in power last night. He'd be out on the ice in full goalie pads, with stick and glove.

And his cowboy hat! Kip knew how to relate. SWB is borderline special needs.

If you voted for her, you are below borderline.

Yea I know wiki…

Don’t think it’s been officially announced but I talked to one of the league reps at the game and he said they’ve already decided. They’ve sold at least 5,000 for all three exhibition games. The Mississippi Seawolves owner will apparently also own the BR team, I’m guessing until local ownership can be set up.

IMO this will be a much better opportunity than the Kingfish attendance wise. The ECHL was a large league and attendance expectations were 6000 + avg. The FPHL (Federal Prospects Hockey League) seems to have around 3000 avg attendance.

Fwiw.

Made it to the game last night, place was PACKED. No appearance and boo-fest for Mayor Broome like the other game, but it was a good time. The city cannot say the interest or attendance wasn’t there if they do try to blame it on something if a BR team does not happen. Two negative things that really stuck out, traffic down Government was atrocious, so many intersections jammed up with vehicles sneaking thru the traffic lights, no police help at all with directing traffic flow, (it was really needed this time, we saw two fender benders just sitting there). And it’s been many years since I’ve been in the “Centroplex”, but it’s screaming for a facelift or upgrade for sure.

I'm guessing the attendance would not be good if BR got a permanent team once the nostalgia and niche wears off.

We went down North and saw maybe 1 other car. No idea why everyone went down government.

I don't know elected officials feel they need to show their face at public events having nothing to do with them or their office. Also, 99% of the people in attendance did not vote for her.

Centroplex parking garage is like arse. Just like a race track gas pump, the area is full of piss, vomit , cig butts, and old discarded chewing gum.
The arena is just an extension of the men’s latrine.

Addendum: Hockey is one rung above soccer, maybe less because of the ice. Just watch boxing for the fights and any other sport for entertainment. Broome + Hockey is bile-inducing. TY

You completely missed the point of this post. That being that Broome is a pos.

it is hilarious how people compain about traffic in this town, especially after an event. Lots ofpeople leave at one time and there will be traffic.

Be smart and take an alternate route, like you and I did. I had no troubles.

There were people with this opinion when the Mudbugs returned to Shreveport. But with the lowered expectations (Jr hockey league) and returning to a refurbished Hirsch Coliseum instead of the cavernous Centrytel (or whatever we're calling it this week) arena the team has thrived since it's return 6 years ago.

Not saying this would be the same case, but it's certainly possible

No, this is not the point. I was referring to arrival traffic. All it would take is for the city to put a few cops out there directing traffic, managing those 2 or 3 intersections before the garage, and co-ordinating merging both lanes into one. There was a good potential to have more fistfights out there than at the game itself.
