Won't this just shorten the length to merge once coming off the bridge? I never see anyone merging right from I-110 to get off at this exit, but I use this exit lane to pass all the 18 wheelers in the left lane coming off the bridge.

They also need to close off the entrance ramp to I-10. Motherfrickers don't know how to merge.

Hopefully so. Its looked like it could have been opened two months ago.

Recent DOTD announcements says March.

Maybe in the short term for construction purposes. In the long term that lane will become a permanent lane. See my previous link to project drawings.

Is this one of the exits that leads into really shitty areas that make you think you’re about to get shot?

You've been on TD since 2008 and still haven't learned how to use the quote function?

Only took 10 years. Now, when are they going to finish the diversion canal that’s taken 40+ years?

That is a textbook DOTD answer. 2 weeks becomes two months, then 2 years.

Heck DOTD opened a bridge last year in Bourg and the contractor is taking its good ole time installing it. A month ago the cross beams finally went up and the lights are slowly being added.

Where is the TrafficLightDoctor from the Mississippi Gulf coast when you need him? He would have had light operational in a few days.

I like some of his videos.

Thxs, good post,

Looks like the final product re-engineers the Wash. and Dalrymple eastbound exits into one exit, but eliminates entirely the bottleneck.
They are also adding a much needed east bound ramp for Dalrymple. This should help Acadian @ I-10.

The on ramp there is a bigger issue. You have multiple schools, secondary first, then elementary, along with people cutting through from downtown, that pile hundreds of cars onto the Louise Street ramp. That ramp comes up straight into the bridge traffic that just had to merge over.

are they removing the "new" Washington Street exit from the plans.

Why would they do this? There will be one combined exit for Washington and Dalrymple. It is a nice design. Most importantly, I-10 will not be narrowed down to one lane with a forced merge. Never again.

I'm fully aware. Hell I posted the drawings that shows the design. I didn't know if this part of the project was removed due to budget constraints or other concerns that came up during detailed design phase.

The announcement said permanent closure; not closure for reconstruction as part of a larger project which raised my question.
