You guys are talking too vaguely. You said “not fat”, are you talking sub 20% body fat, 15%, 10%?

Obviously there are some guys who are 6’1 200 lbs that can rep 300, but I wouldn’t expect the average “non-fat” guy that is that size can do that.

I contend that someone 6’1” 200 lbs and not fat will be able to rep 300 lbs, yes

You're an idiot. Benching 300lbs isn't some easy feat for anyone. It takes a good bit of weight lifting over many months if not years to get to that level, especially for someone at the size you're describing, which would not be some bulky muscular guy.

Hell, we had someone on the tennis team at lsu who was 6,1” 180 and shredded and his max was 305

highly unlikely

someone 6'1" 180lbs isn't going to be muscle bound, or have bulk muscle, especially if they are playing tennis in college. Good chance your buddy was lying about his max, or you dont' know how to add.
I'm not going to say it's impossible for someone that size to achieve 305, but it would take years of weightlifting to achieve that, and even with that, it would be extremely difficult to get there, even more so for someone who's as active as a tennis player. I would bet there isn't a professional tennis player in the top 300 that could bench 250, much less 300.

Even people that are considered "thin" are more than that. This is a number you pulled out your arse.

Probably. I'm fat but still work out and last time I maxed it was 260 so I still have room to get more fat.

Most people could not bench their weight from what I see in the gym daily.
I'm 50 years old and 5'10" at 225 lbs. WhenI started in the gym 5 years ago I worked out with 135 lbs. It took me at least a year to work my way up to 225 lbs. I now do a regular workput for chest doing 5 sets of 13-15 reps @ 225 lbs. I could do 20 reps in 1 set @ 225 and my max is 315. I may be able to do more than 315 but I have never tried.

Agreed. He’s acting like that weight is competing at the Olympia or something

215lb + is advanced territory

The average American male weighs 198 lbs. so the answer is hell no for the average person

I would bet the average bench max for an American male is 150 lbs

So it’s not even close

You are giving the average male the benefit of the doubt. I question if the average male can handle one plate on each side.

That's not unrealistic for competitive athletes in any sport who lift often.

It's also not 1.5x his body weight like he is claiming is easy...

Don’t know what to tell you man.

305-Lester earls boy
285-Czech guy
235-American
230-me

Our trainer said he would 5 rep whatever the heaviest max was this year. He got under the 305, cold, at 6:15 am and repoed out 5 like a fricking freak. Now he was a recent ex linebacker from Texas who was insane and like 260 lbs

I think he trains MMA back in Austin now

I don't expect you to tell the truth, but do professional tennis players even bench? I don't know about tennis specific training programs, but I can't see them doing a barbell bench press for sure. Maybe dumbbells if anything.

The frame of elite tennis players isn't conducive to putting up 300+ bench presses, that's for sure
