I have traveled I-10 in that stretch for 50 years, Lake Charles to Winnie has had ongoing construction every trip. The Pyramids were completed in less time.

The lanes are narrow and uneven right at the border.

Running that route in heavy rain can be a challenge. Other than that, it isn't bad.

I-10 from Orange through LC is complete hell. Anyways, I like to take 10 from Beaumont to Hwy 12 and cross the state line via Hwy12.

10 between Beaumont and Vidor is great. It’s 75 MPH and has 6 lanes with wide shoulders. The rest is awful.
