No. He shot them. You are used to Hollywood depictions in which the guy who is shot does a flip. That's not real life. A lot of people who are fatally shot don't even realize they were hit right away. If you've ever hunted big mammals you'd know that they often run away after being fatally shot. I've had to track deer hundreds of yards.

BTW, if someone is shot, and is blown backwards two yards, then it's reasonable to suspect that the shooter would also be blown back a couple of yards. Silly Hollywood stuff.
