Our power here in central Alabama just went out for about a minute, then it came back on.
I live out in the middle of nowhere, so losing power for a while over the next few days, especially with this wind blowing is a real possibility.

I miss my gas logs in my old house.

Are there any live weather measuring stations on some of the higher elevation areas such as Mt Cheaha, Monte Sano, and some of the higher elevations in the Bham metro area like Shades Crest Mtn? Have to imagine there are going to be some impressive wind gusts with this front in higher elevation areas

So you think the bridges on I-55 and such going from northshore to new Orleans will be ok before sunlight?

I’d think they’re dry now.
Vehicle traffic alone will dry a road pretty quickly. And we have this steady wind to help.

Little Rock with a wind chill of -11 and currently 7 degrees. My mom flew in from NOLA today and it was bumper cars all over the interstate trying to get home. Watched cars slam into barriers and eachother bc within an hour the overpasses turned to ice sheets.
this is why we are not driving through Little Rock back to Louisiana tomorrow. I want to see the grandbabies but I would be a nervous wreck.

If so, they will have it here:

NOAA

You can zoom in for more sites and click on them to see more details.

19 and windy in Tim McGraw country. I went out to patrol the perimeter in Tractor Supply work pants, long sleeve shirt and LL Bean Mountain Fleece vest. It wasn't too bad but I wouldn't want to be out in it for an extended period.

I took the trash out here in NBAYoungboy country and everybody’s garbage lid is flipped open on my street at 36 degrees. Not that cold compared to other areas.

Uh oh......the latest update on the station closest to me came up blank across the board. It gave up and quit. The NWS should have checked its knuckles before this.
