I convinced my girlfriend to chill out on Disney trips after that.

See, I understand going once with your kids when they are between the ages of 5-12.

I just really don't get adults that go. I mean, I'm never going to tell another man how to spend his money, but you can take trips to resorts in Belize/ Costa Rica for cheaper.

This is always the argument in Disney threads. It's crazy how people just don't get that you can do both.

And for the record. You can get flights for a family of 4 to Orlando for $99 per person a majority of the time. If you pick peak times you'll pay a couple hundred per person and you're there in a few hours.

The cheapest flight to Costa Rica or Belize would be about $500-1k per person. $2-4k just to get to those places........ not exactly economy trips you're talking about. Not to mention the cheap options would take you an entire day just to get there.

It takes more time to get there and flights are more expensive($450), but you save money on other things once you get there. Activities and food are cheap. 4 star hotels for around $130 a night.

Yes it might be slightly more than Disney, but the little bit of extra money is worth it.

Not true for Disneyland, which is where the price raise happened. Not Disney world

Fake News...I literally just bought tickets Tuesday night for 2 kids and 2 adults going in September and paid $1346 total. That was for 1 park per day for 4 days...so essentially going to each of their 4 parks for 1 day each.

While they didn't raise single-park, single-day ticket prices, WDW recently announced increases to most of the annual pass tiers as well as increased prices for their "park hopper" ticket add-on options.

They do this every year around this time. But WDW also raised annual pass prices back in June.

Low attendance? Wanna know how I know you haven’t been to Disney? Maybe their attendance is down worldwide, but it certainly is as high as ever in the US.

I would spend 1 day to check out the new Star Wars stuff and want to spend the rest of my time at Universal. We took our son when he was 5 and he has no desire to return now that he is 12. That trip was the only time I had been to Disney. When I was a kid and Six Flags was everywhere that is where we went, I suspect because it was a much cheaper trip.

Universal is superior to Disney in every way. Rides are better and it’s cheaper.

Cheaper? Universal is ridiculously expensive. It is cheap enough if you don’t mind waiting in line for every single ride you want to do. You want that Express Pass? Add on OVER $100 per ticket. Their Express Pass costs more than park entry. At least Disney is giving you the Fast Pass includes in entry price.

I’m most upset about the hikes in the annual passes. We used to get them because two trips a year meant you saved money. It’s getting to where you now need 3 trips or 2 very long trips. Just too much.

Disney is awesome. And it would be even more awesome if they would continue to price people out of it.

OP was about $200 prices for single day tickets. Disney tickets are always cheaper per day the more days you buy. They know they’ll make it up on keeping you in their parks for all those days shopping and paying $12 for a hamburger and $5 for a coke

You can stay on site and get the fast passes at the top 3 hotels. If you go when its slow, fastpasses not necessary. Also a cheat is to pay for one night at a top 3 hotel and get 2 days of fast passes for the whole family even if you don't stay there.
