Then why are you even in this thread?
I'll let you try to figure it out by reading the title of the OP.

Most of the people I associate with on the north side of the lake/huge buffer zone.

You do realize that most people that live on the Northshore work on the Southshore??
You still haven’t named all those incredible restaurants you have

Show me your stats. Show me how many people live here and how many drive across the bridge. If "most" did what you say, than that would be 51% or higher. I can assure you that the traffic would be worse. Go ahead, show me your stats.

Are you really that fkn naive
Look at the traffic every morning leaving the Northshore heading to the Southshore
Are you 13 years old??

you're acting like you're 13 years old, again, you get a well deserved timeout, come back and act somewhat okay, briefly, but it hasn't taken you long to revert back into the full blown a-hole that everyone abhors

Are you 13? Look at the traffic leaving on I-12 and I-10 every morning and coming back from Baton Rouge/Hammond and from Slidell/Mississippi. It's often as bad or worse. I live here. I know.

I grew up on the Northshore and no one I know of considered Mandeville to be a suburb of New Orleans.

True.
The commute patterns on the north shore since Katrina and certainly since the pandemic have turned it into its own little metro area.

Less true these days.
That’s why they’ve removed the north shore from the New Orleans metro.

Each weekday over 30,000 cars cross Lake Pontchartrain on the longest bridge in the world, The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.
That’s not counting the Twin Span or Hwy 11

The absolute meltdown in this thread because people don't want to live in and don't worship New Orleans as the greatest place on earth is quite a sight.
The actual numbers aren't lying. People don't cross the lake for work like they used to. That's why there's now a Saint Tammany MSA in the first place.

Well how about that. Learn something new every day.
Guess it’s one of those things where there is indeed a technical definition even if it differs from the perception everyone has. Mandeville was built up by people fleeing NOLA, who wanted the schools and quality of life of a suburb, but who still needed to be near Nola for work. You know, like the reason for every suburb.
Sort of how someone that’s 6’4” 215lbs looks thin but is overweight according to the science chart.

Even though 95% of them came from Nola, to settle in a place that was still an easy drive from Nola?

Yes, Mandeville is a suburb of New Orleans, Louisiana:
Mandeville is located in St. Tammany Parish, on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain, north of New Orleans.
Mandeville became a commuter community for New Orleans workers in the 1980s and 1990

This is true. While the commuting numbers may be down because of growth on the northshore- the inclusion of the northshore into the metro area in perception has only grown.
I grew up in Covington with a neighbor on one side commuting downtown to Shell and the neighbor across the street a Delta pilot. Though the two companies were major commuter employers in the 70's the dynamic has changed and the northshore has become more of a self supporting entity even while changing into a part of the New Orleans metro identity. Two things can be true at the same time.

Mandeville is a suburb of New Orleans with a population of 13,194
The new road spurred the growth of Mandeville and the surrounding area as a suburban commuter community for people working in New Orleans. This trend increased in the 1980s and 1990s, further integrating Mandeville into the greater New Orleans metropolitan area.
