Not "A" lawyer per se' but My wife (no pics) works in the legal field so I am friends with and have access to an attorney if I should need one. I've had some of them give me off the record advice before concerning relatively simple situations.

I hired a lawyer for the first time ever to sue the dentist that tried to kill me.

Other than that, no.

I'm 56 and other than real estate closings and a will, I've never consulted with an attorney. The old lady and I earn close to $300k and have several properties.

Am I missing something or is there a reason the average person needs to have a standing relationship with a lawyer?

Yes, you're missing all of the judgment-proof, pieces of shits in the world willing to sue any organization with money. They basically have attorneys on retainer working on contingency.

When I had a business, I had a corporate law firm as a vendor as they had lawyers with different skills.

Yes, my wife such a peach as a lawyer.

Yes, you also need a good CPA and banker.

Come on Gordon is still suppose to be my lawyer for life!!!

Not impressive to the OT. Especially on a combined income.

I do not, my dumbass would just Google “best lawyer in city” I’ve never needed one. Been arrested 3 times, just dealt with what was handed to me.

Depends on what you need a lawyer for.
Paper work general filing I have a guy I call he takes care of it I wouldn't trust him to do anything legal other the get paper work filed.
I have a tax lawyer who I have a tenuous relationship w/ she is real good but real expensive I do not have a civil attorney haven't needed one but I know who to use. Very expensive but would destroy a 5 year old if he needed to.

No doubt, I don't have an F250 either, nor a $50k bass boat or $75k wake boat.

I know a lot of lawyers but none of them do common man lawyering so they can never answer my questions.

Nope….lawyers are like specialist doctors…no single lawyer can do everything well. I think your best bet is to hire them on an as-needed basis.

That's my point, though. You had a lawyer for a specific time and purpose. You didn't have one on retainer to represent you for any and all matters if they come up.
