I'm convinced that the meat just isn't the same. I don't know if it's the industrialization of meat production with all of the various antibiotics, pesticides, etc, but meat is much more bland today than it used to be. The stuff we consume today just isn't the same.

Mama's Fried Chicken in Opelousas, Whataburger, Taco Cabana, Chik-Fil-a, and In-and-out are the only drive through places I go to.

Don't understand the fascination with Waterburger.
100% Sonic, but no taste at all.

I remember 10 burgers for a dollar at McDonalds.
We moved to Japan and forgot all about them. McDonald's open a store in the Ginza. We decided to hop a train and go get a McDonald's Burger and fries. On base, we had a Base Grill, burgers at the NCO and Officer's club and a Yakitori Stand that featured Hamburgers soaked in a special sauce. We arrive at the Ginza.
Blocks in the Ginza are the size of NYC blocks. We rounded the corner and came face to face with a line six blocks long, for a burger from McDonald's. We said to hell with this, went into a Department store, up to the restaurant on the roof, ate Japanese food and watched the line from the roof. Always put McDonald's at the avoid at any cost since then.

Yum Foods bought them, KFC, and Pizza Hut in the early 90s and fricked up all three of them. But they really ruined Taco Bell.
Yep. Large corporations always frick up restaurant chains. It’s all about profits so they cut corners on quality and service. When Wendy’s was run by Dave it was great. KFC was great when the colonel ran it. It was their company and they had pride in it and cared about their reputation. A corporation is just a group of faceless shareholders looking for profits they don’t give a shite about quality or their customers.
The reason chick fil A is so great is because the original founder still owns and runs the franchise

It’s so hit or miss these days. One day you might get hot food and fries, the next time it’s cold fries a stale bun and wilted lettuce. I hate paying so much for fast food, but I hate it even more if it’s cold.

They removed the fats in processed meat. Thus losing flavor. Even a lot of meat you buy at the store like ground beef has lower fat content.
I bought some ground beef at a local Chinese grocery where they process their own meat rather than order from a big company. Lot of fat content, that was the best damn burger I’ve eaten in a long time.

Seems like all fast food absolutely sucks now. I gave up on it unless I’m desperate. I don’t know what they did but it’s all tasteless now.

WhataBurgers used to be so good that it almost wasn't "fast food," but their consistency/qc has gone to shite since they sold out

Subway back in the day was fricking fantastic
1990s Subway was pretty good. They really collapsed when they over expanded and started going with discounted products and lower quality everything.
Now I don't even crave Subway without at least 5mg of THC in me.

Wendy’s used to be the goat.

I didn't either, but based on the advice in one of the many Whataburger threads...I tried the Jalapeno burger and one of their shakes.
Now I prefer Whataburger to Wendy's. Which is to say it's above average for fast food, and would be the clear choice over McDonald's 100% of the time if they were near each other.

Yeah what happened? Feels like their "improvements" were based on health stats and costs.
And it happened at the same time they changed their restaurant architecture and designs. So now I associate all Wendy's with hot garbage.

Quiznos used to be very good then it went to hell and I think shut down here. Wendy’s was legit and is now garbage. Original Taco Bell was actually pretty good.

Subway has always been meh. Sonic however has some how managed to bet better the last 20 years.

Quiznos
They were slow as frick during lunch time. Lunch break was over by the time you paid for your meal.
They only thing they had going for them was the "toasted" bread. Their conveyor toaster didn't toast shite. It took like two minutes just to warm it up a little.
Then Subway starting toasting in like 20 secs and destroyed Quiznos' only competitive advantage overnight.
