I think you meant 4 hrs from Nashville, but you're right east TN. is beautiful.

I know Charlotte is a big banking city, but what industry is booming in Nashville?

Healthcare, real estate, construction and service.

This basically leaves Knoxville as the only option.

Knoxville had a lot to offer. I like the fact that you can take paved greenways for some 15 miles east-west, including along the river downtown and there's a 500ac urban wilderness with 50 miles of trails. GSMNP right there. The airport has some good direct flights. If you time traffic, you can be in Atlanta in 3. Asheville in under 2. Chattanooga 1.5.

And the river is actually usable like a lake unlike the MS.

Can't comment on NC, but my dad is from and lives in ET. Weirdest people I have ever dealt with. Just super bland. Every interaction is like they are 5 mins from falling asleep. It's really pretty, but I can't deal with that level of laid back. You could set them on fire and they'd just slowly pat it out and go on droning. I might just be used to the colorful life here, but count me out. Also, the blue laws are ridiculous.

I don't dislike Knoxville. Just stating that the area isn't the best for my employment situation (nor is anywhere in LA). I'd definitely live there though.

Taking the backroads from Anderson, SC to Cleveland, TN is one of my favorite drives. Hiawassee, Young Harris, Blairsville, then the backroads of NC into Ducktown, TN. Beautiful country up there.

Huh? The Blue Laws haven't been in effect for decades. There are a couple of places that chose to close on Sundays (and in Collegedale there are places that close on Saturday, same reason)

If you require hyperactivities 247, this place isn't for you, although you might find that peaceful living has its positives.

Except for UT Football and the absence of any dentists, it's not too bad of a location.

Tennessee is just an embarrassment of riches. Grew up 5 minutes from one of the most beautiful waterfalls in America(Cummins Falls) Now live just outside Nashville with everything imaginable within reach.

We are just outside city limits to the west. 10 acres FAR cheaper than in La. I have a 50 yard range in my back yard. Was popping off my AR, not a single fvck given by neighbors..

i hear ya. my wife's career is very specialized, so we've been kind of stuck in atlanta. UT med center has a dept that could use her specialty though. my sis lives there. my biz/law partner too and some other friends. ready for a change. it's an obvious choice for us.
