there should be an electric zapper in each seat and I would hit the button anytime anyone starts with "first let me say this/let me start with this".

My idea for political debates is that you have two metallic grips that are electrified, like in those old amusement park and carnival games that you hold on to as long as possible to prove your manhood.
You set those up on each podium and when a question is asked, the microphone only works as long as the grips are held. Now, the current goes up REALLY fast as long as you hold onto the grips, so there's no time to waste. You answer your question before it hurts.
Here's the kicker: We're gonna use DC and we're not going to limit a damned thing. So, if they ramble, at some point the politician's muscles will spasm and they will be unable to let go and will just be electrocuted.
Politicians are liars and are incapable of giving a short and straight answer, so they will all be electrocuted and we, as a people, will be better because of it.
We're gonna air this in primetime on all the channels, too. It's gonna be bigger than Monday Night Football.
