Must be something that Shreveport had. I grew up in the ArkLaMiss (Ruston, Monroe, Farmerville, Vidalia), and I've never heard of it. Never heard of it in my time living in Denver and Dallas either.

Elephant ears some NE Louisiana shite... the fair at the civic center back in the 90's had some that were so good

An elephant ear is more or less donut dough, flattened and fried whereas funnel cake is some insidious batter poured into old smelly oil then covered with powdered sugar.

that was the ark-la-miss fair back in the 70s and 80s.

Not sure if they still call it that.

I remember them being called elephant ears, but it's been at least 50 or 60 years. I like that name better.
