Yes. Did not try to get out of it.
identity theft to set up credit cards in other people's names. Dude was without question guilty (felony), and this was the 2nd time he had been caught doing the same thing.
Was pretty interesting.
Lasted a week.

They get summoned, all you have to do is call and tell them you are a lawyer and they excuse you. Technically, a lawyer is not a "peer" of the defendant/plaintiff, unless they are a lawyer.

in real life I told the judge all of my connections to various members of the bar, DA's office, and LE, and neither side wanted me
The voir dire I sat through I knew both of the public defenders and both of the assistant attorney generals. I was struck fairly quickly.

I thought attorneys were exempt from jury duty
Not in MS.

Yes
When I lived in Alabama. It was a capital murder trial. Trial lasted a couple of weeks. Was extremely interesting. The defendants attorney was very unorthodox and colorful with his litigation. The DA personally prosecuted. He was pretty tight nip in his approach. He was seeking the death penalty, so that made it really cool. DA ended up dismissing all charges after the defense attorney's girlfriend rebuked the testimony on the tire marks by the DA's expert FBI witness. ETA: she was pretty cute too

No, and now that my wife is a prosecutor I'll never be seated on one.

It's really interesting. I did jury duty here once and got released after about 6 hours. Did Grand Jury duty in St. Charles Parish for 6 months. If you're not careful, you'll learn something.

It was a murder trial and they picked me to sit on the jury. I was excited until they kicked me off for moving. They also were mad that I changed my drivers license to my new residence outside the area the day they let us go home.

I got out of it because of my job.

I've been summoned three times but only had to show up once. I sat in a library for three days reading a book and was told I didn't have to come back.

But nobody is going to put a lawyer or judge on a jury so they never actually serve on a jury. But they do get summoned.
O rly?
Attorney here. Sat on a 2nd degree murder case in New Orleans.
Guess who became jury foreman? This guy
Convicted 10-2. Don't have to be unanimous in LA and I wasn't about to explain the difference between 2nd degree murder and manslaughter again.

I was on a murder trial about 8 years ago. ended up sending the guy to death row...

I always thought the non-unanimous verdict was BS in LA.

There are no jury trials for traffic offenses.

Be a good person and do your duty. If that were you on trial, you wouldn't want all the smart/normal people doing their damnedest to get out of there.
ETA: But if you're not afraid to look like an arse in front of about 50 people, it's not hard to get sent home.

Been about 3-4 times as well. The last one was a federal case of a sawed off dude who (what we assume) nailed a cop in his car and then took off....apparently had done it twice before.
The judge literally dismissed the whole jury pool
So basically was a waste of everyone's time.
Told them to keep their stinking $6 jury pay b/c I'm a faux OT baller.

Ya, its kind of BS. If the rule wasn't there he would have been convicted unanimously. I would have moved them into Murder 2 I think
I was impressed overall with the jury members, even those that were in the manslaughter category.

One time and I didn't try to get out of it.
It was going to be for vehicular manslaughter but the defendant took a plea deal before the trial started. I was bummed about it.
