shite hole state. Make plans to leave. I am doing so now.

What’s sad is the people of Louisiana thinking the Florida panhandle is a good place to vacation.
Posted on 4/17/22 at 6:41 pm to Byrdybyrd05
Depends on which part of my family I’m vacationing with

I always wanted to live in Florida and I would love to live in the Orlando or Tampa/St. Petersburg area for personal reasons.

Bro, you came back from PCB and the trash in Louisiana depresses you?
Posted on 4/17/22 at 6:43 pm to Byrdybyrd05
Yep, have felt the same many times. Hell, entering Orleans Parish and getting off the Interstate and seeing trash lined streets, bums on every corner begging for money, streets loaded with potholes, and for the past few years, streets in total disrepair with half the work done for months at a time.

It’s the stretch of interstate from Slidell to Hammond. Northshore drivers are the worst in the world.
I swear to god this is the most dangerous stretch of interstate in the fricking country
I laugh when people say driving on I-10 in New Orleans East is ‘dangerous’ with the shootings
I am 10 times more terrified of driving on I-12

I went to college in Houston. I would spend nine months of the year looking at tall skyscrapers, horizontal traffic signals and thirty minute traffic runs
I'd rather live somewhere with fewer people than BR

If you call that the nicest part of Louisiana, holy shite Louisiana is fricked!

Im originally from NOLA but lived in FL years ago.. i agree that the area from Tampa/St Pete down the SW coast is the best- Naples, Ft Myers, Siesta Key, etc.. But i dont understand the appeal of Orlando; you get all the downsides of FL - mainly traffic/congestion and oppressive heat & humidity- without the main upside, which is the beautiful beaches.. Obviously the parks are right there, but you can easily travel to the parks for day trips and long weekends from SW Florida, I used to do it all the time.. i just dont get living in Orlando .

I’d be pretty depressed too if my vacation was somewhere I had to drive to

but you would have the sads if you were going back to Malibu. Nobody likes coming home from vacation.
Nola and BR truly sucks the life out of you if you are a hard working tax paying citizen

The FL panhandle actually has some of the nicest beaches in America.. the problem w/the Panhandle is the people who go there.. it might as well be part of Lower Alabama , most of the folks who vacation there are some of the lowest-class people from all the surrounding states, which ruins the physical beauty of the beaches for me .

The cookie cutter sections of LA are indeed shitholes. The culturally unique areas aren't much better, but at least there's some character there.
IMO, Baton Rouge, is really bad for a state capital. If it wasn't for LSU, what would there be? It's like an oversized strip mall.
Move to a state that doesn't shite on its own history. There are several good southern states that aren't economically depressed.
Move somewhere nice enough and your family may trickle over. Dying in a state just because you were born there seems like a bad case of Stockholm Syndrome.

Drive to a nice little town like Ruston and you won’t be so sad.
Posted on 4/17/22 at 6:56 pm to Byrdybyrd05
Because the family is a bunch of whiney biatches!

This is why when it retire I am outta here. We can’t keep the young graduates and we can’t keep the retirees. So when will the state leaders that those with a choice make the choice to not live here?

I know Orlando is not for everybody but I like Orlando because we have a lot of family friends there and I like that it’s easy to drive to Miami and Tampa.
