Sorry, but that was against David Treen. He was making fun of Treen being so boring.

That's nothing to go into a coma over. Once mine dropped to 37.

If you can find it, yes. The bag man's story. Odd how he got shot.

If you want to read about Edwin Edwards in his prime and how he solidified his political power, that's it.

Just Takin' Orders by his long-time right hand man Clyde Vidrine
Louisiana Political Hijinks
Cross to Bear (EWE vs Duke for Governor) by John Maginnis

All of these are must-reads.

My apologies to Leo Honeycutt who did the big EWE biography: I couldn't get past the first 100 pages or so....same old stories re-told, not much new, lots of re-branding.

Too late to the thread to make a funny about candy/Candy. Perhaps I retain some respect due to timing.

You're right. Against Duke it was...

No low sugar is no fun. My is elevated in the pm requiring to stabilize and very low in the am requiring some OJ and a mini candy bar to raise it. Never-ending battle. ..

If it drops a little more he’ll marry it.

Former pilot for multiple governors has some stories than make me chuckle.

Once flew down to costa Rica for a dove hunt.. Only no one hunts. But they bring crates of "shotgun shells" with them. Dump everything off, and ol EE strolls onto the plane with a few drop dead gorgeous local girls.

So they take off, and after about 10 minutes the plane stars shimmying and jerking around. But everything looks normal to the pilot. Pages the cabin and hears everything you would think is happening... Happening. Chuckles and recommends they be a little less rambunctious.

Another night, coming into BR to head put, pull up, and someone starts shouting to "turn your fricking lights off". Pilot laughs it off and figures it's some private king dick about to realise he's shouting at the governor.

Who is it?

"Bad Bet on the Bayou" by Tyler Bridges is mostly about all the deals and failures that went into bringing legal casinos to Louisiana, but goes into a lot of EWE's background and political skill.

I'm sure he has a seat waiting for him next to Huey P. Long.

FIFY

He is an evil genius. Evil & Genius.

He single-handedly set back Louisiana decades through his greed and politics.

He could have done so much good but chose himself and his cronies over the greater good.

Agreed, but damned if he doesn't have some good stories.
