played mostly rhythm guitar

Simply not true. He played lead guitar most of the time with Paul and John occasionally playing lead. George also played bass on a few recordings.

That two-part documentary on him was pretty good.
Here's him and Pattie...

Ok. It’s not really a huge distinction in the band, and whenever the other guys wrote a guitar centered song, which was rare after revolver, they more likely than not wrote and performed the riff

George did have some great lead parts on a few of their songs during that time, not taking away from him but the other guys played lead in the studio more often than he did.

The Beatles were a boy band and far from great instrumentalists. There are 10 year olds on YouTube who are better instrumentalists than those punks.

People liking one of the most, if not the most, popular band of their generation is weird?

Paul is great, but he wrote all their lovey dovey drivel

That’s just not true, and is a very “John” thing to say. Sure, Paul wrote lovey type songs, but drivel? No fricking way. For No One is one of his best Beatles songs IMO, and it’s expertly crafted. Also, John had his hand in plenty of “I Want to Hold Your Hand” type songs too. A lot of those earlier “lovey dovey” songs were Paul and John together.

Well said.

That's weird considering I'm Gen X.
