Of course I’m in my late 40s, so she’s probably closer to my age. And I’m not above watching those type shows, but it ran during a time when it just missed me. Both too old for it and not old enough. So the daughter never did anything for me at all—she’s always just seemed like a child.
Maybe if you watched it while you were closer to her age, there’s something charming and cute about her personality that makes her more attractive after “living with her” for 100s of hours than she is simply on the surface.
Hell, while not the typical “hot,” I did watch Parenthood, and I’d take Mae Whitman—“her?”—and Lauren Graham over the Gilmore Girls pairing.

I fell in love with her way back in her MTV days. She was soooooo hot. But a terrible actress. In fairness, not a lot of good roles for women that hot. Can’t play “regular” women—too distracting. So it was never much of a surprise to me she wasn’t a bigger star. At least not as an actress. She would have had to go the S.I. Swimsuit model route.

I see what you’re saying, but not sure I agree. Mary Louise Parker is a one of one on her personality making her hotter than she would be considered by just looking at headshots of her. There are some scenes with her in The West Wing where she’s one of the sexiest women on screen ever.
