re: GMC Yukon Dudes (Reg vs. XL)

We had to trade our regular Yukon for an XL a few months after our third. We had captains chairs so third row was 100% necessary but there was crap for space behind the third row when it was up. I think anyone with more than 2 kids needs the third row bc you’ll be hauling other kids around for activities, and never underestimate the amount of stuff the kids need for whatever they’re doing. Add a stroller in there and you’ll be mad you didn’t get the XL.

I'm confused. What exactly is the difference between the new Yukon XL and the suburban? I thought they were the exact same thing.

They’re the same thing. The GMC is just an upgrade from Chevy.

What's your timeline? Look into the Toyota Grand Highlander?

Why do people hate cargo haulers for road trips? I don’t know the price difference, but hell I’ve taken cargo haulers with my truck before just to have the extra space. They take 3 mins to install and you are all set.
Obviously they aren’t great for around town but road trips they are great.
People over estimate the amount of shite you need to haul with kids. First off don’t take as many friends, their lazy arse parents can drive them too. Secondly if they are old enough for a lot of crap they can sit in the front. It’s rare we have more than our family and one friend with sports. If it’s out of town, hitch hauler. In town, 2 cars or cram in. Idk, I wouldn’t pay extra for that very rare odd chance you truly need to cram 7 people plus crap into the car.

I've got a Sierra now and will probably replace that with a Yukon when it comes time to have kids. I like the look of the Yukon more than the Yukon XL but at the price point I'll probably go ahead and get the XL. We also have a 100lb dog that likes to spread out and the longer wheelbase should help with towing the boat.

IDK, we don’t need a fat people mobile.

I can’t afford an 80k vehicle.
Statistically, there’s about a 96% chance you can’t either.

Not sure how this relates to the newer models, but in the previous generation the 3rd row was sitting almost flat on the floor. Only a small child would be comfortable there. An adult would have his knees up to his chest.
In the XL, the 3rd row was kind of over the rear wheels, so it actually raised the seat a little. Again, no idea if they fixed this issue. FWIW, Ford had the Expedition figured out already.
Point being, crawl back there yourself in both models and see which you like better. If you have several young kids, the XL is the no brainer.

What year? We went from a 2010 Yukon XL to a 2017….the 2010 was fine, but drove like a tank in comparison. The 2017 drives like a car almost.
Get the XL.
Get the XL.

No question get the XL if you do road trips. We use up the entire cargo space just in daily life with our 3.

They have independent rear suspension in the current model which gives plenty of leg room in the back.
Legroom was never a big issue in the Suburban/Yukon XL in the third row, especially for kids, but there is plenty now.

yeah i have a yukon regular with second row captains and a third row bench, i leave the third row down all the time with a liner on top, can comfortably seat 3 passengers and carry a good bit of cargo

We went from a Yukon XL to a smaller Benz and hated it. Turns out the XL was needed more than we thought so we went back to the XL with captains seats n middle row. Our kids are grown but we still fill it up 5-6 times per year with beach trips, mountain trips and Omaha a few times. My wife would hate to go to a smaller car.

Ordered a regular Yukon and we're now questioning if we probably need to look for an XL instead. We will need the third row up all of the time.
Another dumbass that’s going to think people like waking up to your child wagon, especially after you do something extra to it. You don’t have to rattle windows to drop off a child at school.

My wife wants the smaller car, which means I'll end up with the dad bus when that time comes

I’ll take one of those fancy Honda Minivans right now, and wouldn’t give a damn what anyone thought.

I can’t pull a damn thing with that though

I came here to tease the minivan bitches about growing a pair.
Then a saw this Kia Carnival modification. Make that back slider a suicide door, convince my wife to drive me everywhere and you can take this bitches' money. I might even be ok with the Yarmulke roof.
