We’ve found the first fatty in the thread. I said it was a good shoot and was a deserved result. At some point you have to be able to physically defend yourself. Relying on guns is going to get your arse beat one day. Maybe a debilitating life altering beating. You best at least get in semi decent shape and learn to defend yourself. The way this country is going you will need it.

stfu you have shown yourself to be unfit for public discourse.

I was a young kid(13-14) swimming at a neighbors house w/ 3 friends. Us dudes were in the pool playing games, THEN some older guy shows up. Obviously older and bigger....he starts banging on the neighbors door screaming for (name) to open up.

The dude broke in, grabbed the girl and drove off. We were stunned but came to our senses and called the homeowner then the cops. We reported everything including the car type.

The guy kidnapped the girl and eventually found in MS somewhere. I think a day later.

So I think this Dad did what was best. Protect family whatever it takes. Some young dudes can't control their hormones and are deranged.

If someone's kicking your door, do you have to wait until they breach the door to shoot them?

Right, that seems ridiculous.

If the dude was just standing on the porch not threatening or trying to break down the door, then yes I'd get it.

But he's actively trying to break the door down to enter the house. To say the Dad has to wait until he breaches the door would be like saying you saw the robber had a gun, you saw he grabbed and pulled out of his hoister, but you can't shoot until he points it at you. That's not how it works, or it shouldn't be how it works.

Any any any unwarranted person trying to break down your front door is an auto threat to you and your family's lives.

Clearly the dad was just sitting there waiting for an excuse.
Ah yes, the Dad just waited for a couple of years for the moment the kid would try to bust his front door down. Makes perfect sense.

Should’ve just kicked his arse imo
Maybe the Dad has a physical issue. Hell, maybe the Dad quite simply can't kick the kid's arse. Now what? Should he risk his daughter's safety and let her possibly be killed by the kid because the Dad isn't a fighter?

Also, in that moment, how did you know the kid didn't have a weapon?

Depends where this happened. Self defense laws are different.

ETA. I got no problem with this. Duty to retreat etc. is bull shite. Either you have a right to protect yourself or you don't.

I hear you but just curious what those steps are.

I know you said you couldn't hear it but not sure if it's a different video, but I can say with 100% certainty I heard a version where the Dad multiple times tells the kid to leave and that he has a gun.

So the Dad gave him multiple warnings. The kid is actively trying to break down the door. I guess I'm not sure what "few more steps" you'd take. Not saying I agree/disagree but the only 1 step I can remotely think of is waiting to see if he breaches the door. But other than that, what steps are you waiting for?

I’m good with it, but he’ll probably get screwed cause the kid wasn’t in the house yet.

And he fired 2 into the dude's back as he was staggering away. The fact that the first words out of the house were "what the frick?" isn't the best, either.

How about this. I give an old fat guy a gun, and you, big strapping lad that you are, try to break down his door and give Him one of those “debilitating arse beatings”.

We can all take bets.

I worked in an ER for 8 years in a Level 1 Trauma Center.

Television warps people's minds of what to expect from gunshot wounds. Sure, certain spots will spew blood like a faucet. But many people who are shot have very little blood coming out.

And so—so I feel it wasn’t reasonable (that’s a legal standard) to continue shooting once the threat was removed after the first shot and he was no longer a threat
The question is if someone is actively trying to bust your door down, do you have to wait until they succeed? Pretty sure the answer is no.

Given that, the next question is if he's not able to have a clear view of the intruder, how would he know the threat was removed? The shots were fired pretty quickly.

I would’ve told the kid that I’ve called the police and if he busted in I was going to I’m going to shoot him. I don’t like the idea of blasting some unarmed kid who was fricked in the head over relationship bullshite
The Dad multiple times told him not to do it and also told the attacker he had a gun. He was warned.

He probably should have just waited until the guy had actually started raping his daughter

If you aren't getting those sweet VA bucks for loss of hearing, you should probably look in to that.

My hearing sucks balls, and even I heard him say "get off my porch" multiple times clear as day.
