Never been but the FB thread is full of people saying it's overpriced trash
Well, it is. I went twice when it was at white star and it was terrible both times

I'd say overpriced and overrated. It was never great. I hate to see local businesses close, though.
First time I went it was great. Wife and I sat at the bar and tried every taco on the menu and each had an adult beverage. Bill was under $60. Went back a couple months later and it was very underwhelming.

I thought the road diet was going to boost business. It didn’t?

I always enjoyed the tacos. A little small for the price, but barracudas tacos are $4-6 too. Last couple times I went to govt taco, it reeked of a public bathroom throughout.

Quality definitely went down for food and atmosphere

guess that Barracuda Taco opening put a dent in the business
This. The people have spoken. Barracuda is delicious. Big tacos. Better Bang for your buck. Better atmosphere and location. Nobody is biking to government taco. Barracuda is just plain and simple superior and put government taco out of business. Has nothing to do with Biden or economy. Just a matter of better customer experience.

I said interesting, not tired, vastly overrated, and only (for a while) kept afloat by childhood nostalgia

how’s the birria taco game at Barracuda?
and if it’s not on the menu, then i’m passing serious judgement.

What a cluster with the road “improvements,” who in their right mind? I passed that way last night, due to White Light Night. The improvements slows down traffic, allowing foot traffic for this one night. Great job BTR.

Barracuda is white people tacos. It's pretty good though.
Birria & Barbacoa is the best for that in BR.

You're apparently not particularly sharp with inset parentheticals. If you read my entire statement, it's fairly clear that I meant that it was kept afloat by childhood nostalgia for a defined period of time which came to an end at some point.
I've lived in Baton Rouge for about two decades. I think I first tried FDL about 15 years ago. It was embarrassingly mediocre back then. FDL has been closed for a bit over a year now. I have zero opinion regarding how good FDL was half a century ago. Might have been the bee's fricking knees. But for the last fifteen years? It's my opinion that it was kept afloat by childhood nostalgia.
Until that nostalgia was no longer buoyant enough, and then they closed, because FDL wasn't good enough to attract new customers. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.

I wonder how long the owners are going to sit on that property trying to "sell the business" that no one seems to want...
