Reminded of that sopranos episode where one poked around the backyard and scared the piss out of AJ

Question: Which bear is best?

Thread hijack: I've always wondered if the black bear populations in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana will ever filter (back) into the East Texas Piney Woods.
I've heard of vagabonds crossing into the territory, but nothing that could equate to a breeding population.

Almost hit one with my SUV earlier.
I opened up my front door tonight and had a bear right outside my doorway
Had to slam on my brakes outside of gatlinburg because one ran out in front of me
Tonight I was taking a bag out to my vehicle and there was a huge bear about 3 or 4 feet away from me. It took off running
We went to Gatlinburg this same time of year back in 2023. Black bears were everywhere. Heard or read somewhere that they are getting ready to hibernate for the winter so they are out and about eating as much as they can before that happens. Apparently this time of year it is common to see them everywhere and have interactions with them.

It’s black bears, calm down. You can fight those if need be. Quit screaming like a child and deal with it
Then the NAACB would be out to get his arse.

There were two black bear attacks this year in Arkansas, both were fatal.

Yep.
Brown bears will usually disengage when they feel like they've handled the threat.
Once a black bear is on you, they're far more prone to finish the job.
