Groceries, in general, are out of control.

Eat out at a half decent (not top notch) bar or restaurant these days? Those price increases, plus a nice tip for quality service, will set you back a bunch especially if you purchase a cocktail or two.

Restaurants too. $3.50 for a soft drink or unsweetened tea. $3.50 is not an OT joke either, that’s what I saw 3 days ago at a local restaurant.

But inflation is coming down people

Inflation is the rate of change in prices from one period to the next.

Prices can be much higher today than 2 years ago and inflation can be cooling off at the same time.

Stop drinking them. I have used this an excuse to cut way, way back on my soda habits.

The bigger problem that those prices are there to stay.

The crazy thing is, high end places didn't really increase that much, it's lower and middle end places upping their food from 16 to 23 dollars for burgers or chicken that are pissing me off.

Was shocked at recent prices at the Chimes.

20 dollars for shrimp and grits?

Prices are determined by supply and demand you moron. In this case, the supply of money has increased, so its price relative to other goods has decreased (inflation).

The higher end places have the margins to eat it. The lower end places don’t.

Yup. I think I read somewhere once that sugar addiction can be as bad as cocaine.

So, sugar's as bad as booger sugar.

Was doing my weekly look at krogers new sales ad in my app and noticed that coke, Mountain Dew, etc are $9.99 for a 12 pack. That is absolutely ridiculous. 2 years ago they were like $4.99 or $5.99. That's basically a 100% price increase in 2 years. But inflation is coming down people
——————————————-
Soft Drink products have cost stores much more than they were sold for for YEARS !
15 years ago Coca Cola cost to retailers was over five dollars a twelve pack , yet you could buy them for three for ten or four for twelve price points. Stores used the loss leader to attract customers while that category in the store was running a minus 30 percent margin . Stores aren’t doing that now.
So , what you have is a combination of soft drink prices going up and stores not using them as a loss leader
