If your doctor doesnt do anterior, run! Anterior is 10000000000% the eay to go, always. No muscles cut, just bruising. Any other method is months recovery, compared to days....and much more extensive rehab.

I had one at 52, the other at 55, I was very physically active so recovering was fairly easy. I’d say 100% 2 months post op, cannot recommend enough Dr Craig Green at BROC,,,this is his cornerstone surgery and does several in a day so he has lots of experience.

It’s the easiest recover of any major joint replacement. I had a farmer back at it one week later. The are kind of a different breed. Most look really great by 3 weeks. Don’t skimp on PT.

It’s very frustrating

What type of doctor did you first go to for this? Did you go GP and then get referred?
Ortho. I knew had a torn quad in my upper leg from years ago so I thought this might be related. He ordered a MRI.

I had hip scopes on both hips that required significant recovery time and effort and left me in much worse shape than before the scopes. Had to have my right hip replaced at 43 and recovery was much easier and I’m MUCH better off now. Zero regrets

Total right hip replacement in 2014 at 56 and found rehab and recovery very easy.
This XXXXXX1000000%
I see you mentioned damage from bone spurs. There is a procedure
where they go in and clean up the joint. Have you asked about this?

Hip arthroscopy is a minimally invasive, typically outpatient, surgical procedure used to diagnose and treat hip joint issues like labral tears and impingement. Surgeons use a small camera (arthroscope) and miniature tools through small incisions, generally leading to less pain and faster recovery compared to open surgery

Im young and in great shape. Apparently one of my hip joints has some sort of bone spurs that cut away a lot of my cartridge. Shaving the bone may be an option but not sure yet.
Similar situation. Had the left done 3 years ago at 35. It was a breeze. Surgery at 8AM, woke up around 12, walking at 1. Took a couple months to get full strength and range of motion back but I was back to 90% within 2-3 weeks.
Worst part was partially my fault. They gave me an exercise book when I left the hospital to do when I felt better. Obviously I still had plenty of painkillers in my system and figured I'd go ahead and do the whole book 2-3 times that day. Legit could not move my leg the next day
Getting dressed sucked for a couple weeks but I felt so much better I didn't mind much.

I've had both replaced. I wouldn't wait so long next time. Recovery was pretty easy.
Both were done through the "front".

Right hip, so I couldn’t drive for 20 days, but was back to work in 10 days…

My wife had a full replacement of one hip. Because of dizziness caused by low blood pressure, she stayed three nights in the hospital, but when she finally came home there was no holding her back. She took no pain meds and was going up and down stairs (slowly with the handrail) within hours of getting home. The doc said the only PT she needed was to keep walking so she did laps in the house all day. Someone was sent to check on her progress after a week or so and said to keep it up.
It's now been three years and she has zero problems. She had a cyst or something that showed up on the scans and no one wanted to touch it until we we were referred to this one doc. He said he'd seen worse and didn't hesitate. He and his practice did an incredible job.

Left hip two years ago. Posterior approach. Still not 100%. I’m far better than pre surgery, my problem is the muscle(s) that was cut. Id still do it again, but what everyone else is saying, if the doc says posterior, thank them and leave.

I’d say Lane is hip compared to Brian Kelly.

One of my coworkers was back up and working in 3-4 days

Piece of cake and really wish I had it done sooner! Do your PT and you should do great. I had my right hip replaced and in 2-3 weeks I was walking on it with zero problems! Andrew’s Sports did mine…same surgeon that did Coach Saban’s.
