Untrue. I imagine that the limitations you speak of only exist because of a business being open or closed before vs after work. However, There is no physical reasons that one couldn't do said activity before work vs after work. If there is demand for an activity, the market will adjust.

People aren’t going to all of a sudden start getting up at the crack of dawn to run errands, grill out, mow the lawn etc.

You didn't debunk anything I said. You just pointed out people are lazy.

The big push is to remain on DST year round. Why?

because morons living in subdivisions don't want the "suns up, blades down" crew cutting grass at 5:30am in the summer.

Standard time is in the winter, when it gets dark really early.

I think only a fool cuts a 12" off of the top of the blanket and sews it to the bottom, expecting to make a longer blanket.

There a parts of the the country that are going to have miserable months regardless. I know keep DST all year would mean the latest sunrise would be around 8:43 AM where I am. That would suck.

That western portion of the eastern time zone was pitch black dark this morning until well after 7:00 AM!

The eastern time zone is too big. It should be redrawn and/or perhaps another zone added.

Sunrise at 8:43 am isn't dark (unless you are behind a mountain).

The sun doesn't work that way. Lol

Guess, what? I have a range of 10,000+' mountains 3 miles to my east. They delay sunrise for over 1 hour in the winter months. And 65-70% of the rest of the folks in this state are in the shadow of the range as well. Additionally we are in the far west of the time zone which makes the sunrise problem worse.

Also, most of the folks that advocate for this live in the southern part of the US. The further north you go, the shorter the winter days get. Therefore, staying with DST all year more severely impacts the late sunrise time for those folks. When the day is is only 9.5-10 hours long in the winter, the sun is setting early no matter what.

Then you are screwed regardless of timezone.

If a delayed sunrise was problemsom... you wouldn't live so far north.

Quit making up fake issues that you obviously care so little about. If it was a big deal, you'd move.

Personally, I wish Louisiana could stay GMT - 6 hours . I like the conversion with regards to weather observations.

(Zulu) -6 hrs is optimal.

The sun could rise at 9 am and I truly would not care. Most people are at work or school and therefore not participating in anything requiring sunlight.

Then quit trying to force your own personal best case scenario on the rest of the country without considering the impact on others.

I've got no problem losing 1 hour of sleep 1 day a year. For 99% of folks it takes 1 maybe 2 days to adjust. But what I'm trying, unsuccessfully, to get folks to realize that if losing that 1 hour is so inconvenient that we stick with 1 time, Standard time is the most practical solution for the vast majority of the country. People are just too narrowly focused on their own situation/location to see it.

I do have a preference but I agree, I’d pick either instead of changing it twice a year. That’s nonsense.
