Yes, as of August 1, 2025, it is illegal in Louisiana to drive in the left lane of a multi-lane highway at any speed below the posted limit, not just 10 mph under. Violating this "slow left lane" law (Act 24) can result in fines starting at $150, increasing to $350, and potential 30-day jail

I know you are going to argue it’s not a multi lane- weak soft

Doesn’t mean you can’t go the limit
You cannot control what other people do. And in general it’s safer to drive slower - especially on a road like highland - where people are turning off, there are stop lights, and a lot of residential areas.
My totaled car, back and neck would’ve rather been hit by someone doing 35 than 65.

You really think a policeman is going to give someone a ticket for driving under the speed limit in the left lane on a highway when they take over 20 minutes to answer a call when someone is breaking into your house?
You need help.

I travel two lane Highland a lot. I try and drive 40-45, but there is a lot of turns, a lot of turning traffic and it’s common to have to slow down because of all that. I suggest that you leave a few minutes early and chill out. Two lane Highland is a street that you need to be careful while driving.
This! Right here
This person is a perfect example. You do understand that we do not make the speed limit on that road correct? So someone with some brains over the lifetime of highland road figured out that 35-40 or between 40-42 or whatever you choose to drive is not what keeps the flow of traffic going on that road? So basically you are saying that speed limit someone smarter than you picked is wrong? But I’m the bad person bc I can drive 45 on a road with turns and you can’t? But you choose to go that road u stead of Burbank or Perkins on whatever road parallel to highland? Knowing the people behind you may want to go the legal speed limit? Selfish idiots

Who said anything about the police stopping anyone? I just said it’s illegal bc it blocks the flow of traffic but ppl like you don’t give 2 rats as**

You’re ranting on a board with people who mostly agree with you, but nothing can be done. So just relax and work on yourself.

If you want change, go become a policeman and enforce the laws. Vote for better judges.
It’s probably just best to move somewhere better.

Really? Link?
The “10 under” that poster stated is not true, however…

“B. Except when a special hazard exists that requires lower speed for compliance with paragraph A of this section, no person shall operate or drive a motor vehicle upon the highways of this state at such a slow speed as to impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic. ….”
One example cited was a tractor that was traveling 10mph in a 70mph zone.
Which is definitely unsafe for the normal flow of traffic. 10mph under may or may not be.

I do use Burbank, but the part if Highland to I 10 is the issue. It’s not just the turns but it’s also the people turning or entering Highland from side streets and drive ways.
Sure there are times when you can go faster, but at the wrong times it’s problematic.
And I have no problem with the speed limit set at 45, but you have to know that st times the speed limit may be too high to stay safe.
That’s what I’m basically saying.

Guarantee you this guy rides people’s arse on this road who are already driving 48 mph.

Here is what happened on Highland Road to me today. Going west on Highland. Person ahead of me has his blinker on to go right on Amiss at Highland Road Park. Driver going in the opposite direction has his blinker on to go left onto Amiss. The diver ahead of me STOPS on Highland to let the other driver take a left. This is how rear end accidents happen.
Laid on my horn at the jackass.
Same shite happens at Pecu/Highland.
Follow the traffic laws!!

Doing 35 in a 45 cuts the capacity of the road by 22%.
So, if we all did 90, there would be no traffic jams?
