I got 4 quotes. My first was Relief Windows and it was off the charts the most expensive. I’m sure it’s good work, but it was double everyone else.

He used to live in a neighborhood across from us when he was just getting started. Yeah he’s gotten outrageously expensive. Gotta keep making that money for the commercials. But I do suppose he has enough business to pay for all that. Not from me though.

We replaced ours and the price for financing and paying up front was significantly different and the timing was too.
Up front- 2 weeks. Financing-12 weeks.

I hear you bro. We got some fancy arse windows and door installed a few years ago and we just paid them off. It was actually the last thing we had on the books other than the mortgage.

The dealer fees the finance companies charge is not pocket change.
But, they do offer some consumer protection by only allowing certain products that are approved. Most of the time installers have a cheaper option that they use when they do cash deals.

Almost identical from Acadian windows here. Very satisfied
In here to also say that Acadian Windows is who we went with in 2023.
A total of 14 windows. 2 double hung. 3 picture windows and the rest single hung vinyl. Double paned with the gas in-between. Lifetime warranty . Around ~13k
We had anderson on the house for a 30k quote, we also had window world..went with Acadian.
Very happy with my choice

I don't know but I do know my home insurance has almost tripled in the last five years. Thanks Obama.

I think like everything else, the prices went up after Covid. My neighbor closed in an area in the back of his house so his wife could have an area to host book club get togethers. Its a... I'd say 12x12 area and its half and half. Half the wall... Is a wall and the other half is window. It was 4 windows, but custom size.. This was around 2021 and I remember it ended up costing a lot more than he estimated. I remember him telling me he asked the guy who installed them why were windows so expensive and he said " because of Covid"..
But the answer is probably more like.. Because you paid for them. They went up on the price, like everyone else and people pay the price... Companies learned, during covid, people would pay more.

Price shop.
We got the exact same windows quoted by two different companies. One was 47k. The other was under 30.
If it smells bad, walk.

You must have some standard sized windows
I have some standard windows and some huge custom-sized windows on the front and I have not found anyone willing to touch it for less than $30K. That's for 24 windows on my main house. Thankfully, the guest house only has 4 windows and they are standard size so the prices on it have been reasonable.

Doing windows yourself can save you enough money to buy a new car...and that's no joke. However it can be really difficult if you have older aluminum windows and no experience with how to get them out without completely removing the exterior walls.
They are nailed in under the exterior siding/paneling. To get them out without removing the outside of the house you'll have to cut them out or have a special puller.
I installed windows for a big time company in arkansas and even 25 years ago the prices were outrageous. The nice windows would be a few hundred bucks each from the supplier and then thousands each for installation.
Buying windows from a big name you end up paying an army of people. The window supplier, the big name company, the salesman, the contractor that installs them and the inspector.

Does the appearance of your home indicate that you value expensive things? A good salesman will give you a high estimate in hopes that you are a Gucci.

China, tariffs, nitrogen!

We did 17 replacement windows, with one converting to a large bay window for less than $30k from a reputable local company.
I’d call around on that one. That sounds insanely high.
