Absolutely not, I had several hundred dollars at that time but no credit card to cover the remaining balance.
So you COULDN’T afford it.

I was upset because there was absolutely no compassion shown.
No, you’re upset because you wanted something for less than what it costs and they didn’t budge.

How can you turn away someone struggling to breathe??
They told you how to handle it. Call 911. These readi-med places aren’t hospitals and aren’t designed to handle situations that require hospitals. If you were so short of breath you should have driven yourself to a hospital and not a walk in.

Yup, and if your house catches fire you should pay the water and labor bill upfront before a drop is dispersed. Firefighters don’t work for free.
Actually the water and labor are paid for upfront, it’s called taxes.

Two years ago I cut my hand wide open with a router and the closest thing to me was an emergency clinic. They turned me away and told me to go to the ER because they couldn't help me. They are allowed to do that. I too chose to drive instead of calling 911. Perhaps it was dangerous as I was light-headed and one-handed but I managed. If I had wrecked it would have been my fault for choosing not to get an ambulance.
It's a shame people like you don't take responsibility for their actions anymore. Be a man for once in your life.

The OP will for sure find a lawyer who will take this case no matter what the facts dictate.
Lawyer will ask clinic for $10k due to mental anguish. Settlement will be for about 7K and lawyer a-hole will get 35% for doing almost nothing

And all other legit urgent care patients will get to foot the bill with higher percentages and co-pays.

Should have called an ambulance or had someone drive you instead of putting lives in danger by getting behind the wheel knowing your medical condition could impair you.

A lawyer dumb enough to take this case is also likely dumb enough to draft a petition that would not survive a motion to dismiss.

All I wanted was to be able to breathe. If you have never experienced severe asthma, perhaps do this. Run about a quarter mile, stop and you must breathe through a plastic straw for as long as you can. I had money and the means to pay the whole bill. I just didn’t have the means with me at that moment aside from a few hundred bucks cash. All I wanted was some relief from the asthma at that moment.
Look man, everyone here understands what goes into having asthma. It’s not a joke and it is indeed life threatening. It doesn’t sound like this is something recent that you have developed, but if it is you should know what to do moving forward:
Bring enough money either through a CC or cash to pay in full as you don’t have insurance
If your asthma gets worse, pull over and call 911. Operating any machinery while impaired is the most dangerous thing you can do
Don’t expect others to blindly know how bad your condition is. This I think is the biggest thing. It’s obvious your brain wasn’t working at 100% due to the attack and the internal anxiety of having said attack, but you need to clearly (as clearly as possible) explain what’s happening. Had you done that, or simply asked the place to call 911 for you, I guarantee they would have.

I needed a $25 dollar inhaler which required a prescription, as I had no refills remaining. The walk in clinic has a pharmacy containing said inhaler.
$220 cash wasn’t enough for them to help me out, they wanted more.
I left more at home, 2 miles away.
The hospital is 19 miles away.
I was on the way home to get a credit card when the wreck occurred.

If you knew the consequences of being without it, why did you wait? Why didn't you go ahead and call and make an appointment when you picked up that last inhaler?
Posted on 1/8/24 at 12:08 pm to MoLiberty
Since you don’t have medical insurance, do you have auto insurance for the wreck?

Are they a private business that can set their prices or not?

See my post right above your last reply. A lot of responses, and even some of mine, are painting you as being a complete moron devoid of the ability to use a single brain cell that’s just out to get free shite.
Your OP reads like that but I’m not sure that’s who you are. However, this isn’t the walk in clinic’s fault. So to answer your OP in a somewhat respectful manner, no, do not call an ambulance chaser. The clinic didn’t do anything wrong.

I don’t use the inhaler everyday and thought I had a backup.
I caught a lung full of burning leaves and it triggered an attack. I puffed what was left of the inhaler and got better. Later in the day the attack started to ramp up and I realized I was out of medicine. So I panicked and the rest has been written.

Hypoxia coupled with a previous TBI is a bad combo. Doctor is pretty sure I have Chronic traumatic encephalopathy, but can’t say for certain without an autopsy.

The physician or APP there likely has zero control over billing or prices.
What you tried to do is akin to going in to Walmart and trying to negotiate the price of a TV.
The workers simply work there and cannot make exceptions.
You can do that at a small, family owned shop, not at large institutional ones.
The ER, your primary care physician, and free clinics exist for situations like this.
If you don’t have a PCP, get one.
