No real girl has to say "as a woman," especially one who has the word girl in the screename.

The average American adult woman is like 5’4” - 170lbs. Basically a barrel shape with chronic health disorders. If you’re trying to sell these people things, it is probably best you represent their class for illustrative purposes.
there it is.
this is normal. not a big deal. who cares? and if all else fails ‘melt’

Common isn’t the same as normal

As a young lad who only had the lingerie/bra section of the Sears catalog to ogle, the recent downfall of swimsuit and lingerie catalogs is a shame.
You were obviously an underprivileged youngster, not having JCPenneys, Montgomery Ward and Spiegel catalogs to supplement the variety.
I knew a couple girls who were catalog bra models who were actually subjected to bullying and shaming in their schools.

it’s common to feature obese, handicapped, and old women in swimsuit catalogs?

AndyCBR posted "as a young lad" in this very thread. His screen name, by including Andy, clearly signifies he is a male. So, I doubt your forensics.

Pussy is no longer undefeated.
This is a definite sign of the apocalypse. But its still pussy, even if its old and fat. But the very second they decide to put a dude in a bikini catalog, you better start with the Our Fathers. It will happen, and soon.

My wife (40, 5’8”, 132) gets various swimsuit catalogs in the mail almost daily this time of year.
Other women get those catalogs too, and most of them are larger than your wife.
The whole point of a catalog is to show a woman what she would look like if she wore that clothing/swimsuit.
If they can show a fat lady in a catalog, then lots of fat ladies (who make up most purchasers these days) will buy whatever she is wearing.

What you said makes perfect sense, so of course its been proven to not work well with regards to marketing to women, who are emotional consumers.
In the past, women would buy something that was presented as glamorous over something presented as well suited for them. They are just tapping into current emotions on how "inclusive" they are to try to drive sales. Who knows if it will work, but if it requires women be emotional consumers to work, it might have a shot despite being practical.

what year is it?
Who the hell gets magazines in the mail?
Why are you looking at these catalogs? I assume you're the same age as your wife, so you aren't old enough to have been married at a time when internet porn wasn't easily available to you.
You could have posted your email yesterday evening on this site if you wanted to see a "fit" woman in the nude to get your juices flowing.

However, now the catalogs are a parade of old ladies, fatties, and prosthetic limbs.
If you think that's bad, wait until they hire a bunch of men to model the swimsuits next year.

I think women's attitudes are changing, though.
Used to be, women would strive to be like the pretty girls in the catalog, it would be an incentive. Now, women don't give AF because they have realized that no matter how fat/ugly they are, there are 50 dudes in a one mile radius that will still want them.
So now, they just want things that will fit them.

This is different. He is pointing out that it happened when he was young. The young age is the key point. In Tiger"girl"'s post, her alleged sex was the key and only point.

Yup. Meanwhile men that aren't at least an 8/10 physically are relegated to beatin' it to Chinese cartoons in dingy apartments.
