Generally no.

If you're 18 you could use it for college. Otherwise you need to invest it and grow it to an amount that will be life changing.

Not in today’s world.

Probably true because in todays world the weak minded will figure out how to spend it within 6 months on stupid shite and then blame the economy and others for why they are back to being poor.

It is absolutely life changing money if you do something smart with it.

Like buy 100,000 scratch off lottery tickets.

Thats what I’d do.

Give $100k to the average, vain, middle class American citizen, and, at best, 7 times out of 10 they will masterfully turn a $100k windfall into even MORE crippling debt.

However, if you're not in massive consumer debt like the majority of Americans are, let alone be debt free (or as close as is possible in Joe Biden's economy), then yes, it could absolutely be life changing, but that window is closing day-by-day as the federal reserve prints more and more money.

And the reason why is not just because you're in the situations listed above, but also because you have the financial wisdom to do so, e.g., frugality, living within your means, psychologically unaffected by the classroom mom's new vehicle, savings account, etc., etc.

Sadly, though, for the average American, it would only be life changing inasmuch as their willingness to downgrade a trim level on their new financed Suburban in order to pull their new financed wake boarding boat to the public ramp with the rest of the consumers. The people who would make it life changing parlayed that into earnings so that 10 years* down the road they have their own private waterfront boat ramp and paid cash for all watercraft parked out front.*

*Subject to change circa 2024.

$100,000 without taxes could be life changing for most of this country if handled correctly no matter what the OT ballers think.

If you take the majority and invest it in the S&P and wait a while it could set you up pretty well for retirement or paying a house off in the future. Just have to resist the urge to spend it

I could pay off my house and get a decent used vehicle.
That would change my fortunes immensely

Life changing money is an amount that is (after taxes) equal to 10 years of earnings.

That is an amount that can change your long term decisions.

Yes, immediate debt relief, savings/retirement bump, as long as it’s not blown entirely on hookers and blow
