Yes. And he is pissed off at his little town and ran (and won) a city council seat. Someone is gonna kill him.

I am 71. Once you retire, you realize nobody owns you, you sleep until 11 with a beer for breakfast and nap at 2 if you want, fart whenever needed and you do not have to dress for anybody's approval, just be comfortable and make sure all the parts are covered.
Dress Philosophy, over 65 degrees, cargo shorts, golf shirt, velcro new balance shoes. Under 65 degrees, old khaki pants, golf shirt and velcro new balance shoes.
Speaking philosophy, don't curse around kids, women or religious types, otherwise say exactly what is on my mind.
Politics, Democrat and IDGAF what you think about my party of choice. If you like it then fine, If you don't then you can KMA.
And I am enjoying every minute of it.

We have a family business and my brother and I are running it. My dad has somewhat stepped away and stays at our lake house most of the time.
My son runs the family business with me. I’m also stepping back some. He runs ops and all projects in the field. It’s tough not to jump in but I know it’s the best thing for me to do. Still, not easy to let loose the reins.

Facebook: dad is kind of turning into a dick and I worry he may say something to the wrong person.
As a longtime curmudgeon, let him live his life. It's freeing to just not give a tinker's damn about offending either the a-holes everyone deals with on a day to day basis or those close to us who are abject screw ups.

Your dad sounds cool.

Your old man sounds like a decent human being and not a POS. I do that now and I’m on my early 30s.

My father would have enjoyed a visit with your father. Enjoy these times as we all change with age.

Can’t say I blame him there. I did the same thing a few weeks ago. My biggest pet peeve.

Give Pops a break. Older folks do lose their “filter” and say things that pop into their mind more easily. Seen it myself in grandparents and parents and older acquaintances. Most of the time, its just the aging process. My sweet as pie beloved Grandmother used to tell us “ you sure look like you’ve gained weight lately” or similar, all w/o malice. I just kind of laugh and go along with it.

By the time I’m 70, God willing, I’m going to be completely out of give-a-damns.

Man, you beat me to it. I often tell my wife that I wanna be a curmudgeon when I grow up. She says I already am.

I had a great aunt who very late in life started cussing like a sailor. Nobody could figure out where she had even heard those words before.
