No. Los Angeles as a whole is a total shithole. I honestly couldn’t tell you one good quality about the entire area.

We drove through on our way to a particular fabric store.
Two weeks in southern California, and I started (day 2) noticing how dry it was. No weeds (no water), dead weeds left over from when there was water months ago. Lots of trash blowing around (no water to break the paper products down).
Then I started appreciating the landscaping. Some of it is xeric, some is plant whatever, water is cheap to the person living here.
Boy bougainvillea's are pretty in bloom. After a week, drowning in bougainvillea.
In and out burgers, we knew we were going to miss them when we left.
Lots of the people are really nice. They're the support staff who don't play the name games.
I envy the museums and the exhibits they get.

I mean, it's kinda disappointing if you ask me.
I went to that Rodeo Dr and didn't see not nary a horse or cowboy hat...

They have an old school pharmacy with a lunch counter in the back. It has good diner food and milkshakes for reasonable prices (at least it used to).
That's a less luxurious place in Beverly Hills worth checking out.

We drove through there and ending up staying the night at the Four Seasons

Eh, it’s worth seeing once but it’s pretty overrated.
Just a bunch of big mansions and some luxury shopping stores. Like a high end suburb. And as someone said it’s a lot of middle easterners now. Many celebrities have sold their homes and moved to the valley or suburbs elsewhere.

I took my kids to Malibu, Disney Land, Griffith Observatory and a Rodeo Drive car show with Jay Leno hosting.

California is awesome. Don't let the simpletons here who have never been further than Gulf Shores tell you otherwise.
Thanks for being condescending. California has some very pretty places but its full of self-destructive a-holes. They can have their paradise and all the poop on the streets they want.

its overrated. i did see michael buffer on Rodeo drive driving a convertible (the highlight), but it wasnt my kind of scene.

Beverly Hills has no slums, but also not really worth seeing. You see one overpriced house you've seen them all

To visit 100% agree. You would have to pay me $15mil a year to live there.

Yeah, it's worth seeing. Plenty of good restaurants, no fat people, lots of beautiful (but cray cray) women everywhere.
Plenty of freaks too, depending upon where you find yourself.
The old studios are fun to tour.

Is it though?
California has some good folks and some interesting sights. Any State that size is just bound to. IMHO, the juice just isn't worth the squeeze, more so every year.

That’s the Peach Pit… is Nat still running it?

Or is it completely overrated? Is it really all that luxurious there or does it have slums too?
If you’re in LA, sure.
As another poster said — California is awesome. I’m still hoping to achieve my California dream one day.
