Those that pay now will just be paying more, while the majority continue to pay nothing and cause all the problems

Increasing taxes is never a solution. Responsible financial management is the only sensible option.

Who funded the roads and the utilities, the power lines, and sewage line? Who is responsible for maintaining these things? How about the police and fire departments who patrol the neighborhood?
You are not an island and you do not do or build anything by yourself...

But how do you propose we have the infrastructure and courts and other institutions without funding via taxes?
Also, you aren't paying 30% in taxes. Lmao.

Our politicians are misguided and mismanage public funds but that does not discount that public funding via taxation is needed.

What New Orleans needs is a competent mayor, an aggressive DA, and about 3 new prisons. You have to make people safe (or at least feel safe) before you can fix the countless other problems.

If you had a competent, transparent leadership, like a Nordic country, you could potentially argue in favor of higher taxes to solve some of the issues in that town.
Given the fact that New Orleans is closer to Haiti than Norway in its leadership (competence, not skin color). I would say that a tax hike would be squandered on stupid pet projects that in no way , shape or form create a competitive, resilient, dynamic, 21st century city that would attract dynamic young people.
That and it is slowly sinking into the gulf. I suggest moving elsewhere.
Bro, go full mask off and own being a racist and stop dog whistling like a coward.

The DAs office is the A1 issue in New Orleans.
Police are quitting because of the consent decree and the revolving door on broad st.
Criminals fear no consequences.
Residents don’t feel like there’s any justice even when criminals are caught by an exhausted NOPD.

It's on my bill every month. It's not a tax like income
Property tax is the biggest scam around.

And these rates are in no way subsidized and lower via other funding sources such as general sales, property tax, and other revenue sources from state, local, and federal governments?
Surely you are not this dense and naive...

Our mayor is an unabashed kleptocrat. Do you think she should be going on more taxpayer funded first class vacations, not less?

It's written on the bill. Hell, I'm paying storm restoration fees on storms that weren't even in my area.
The biggest numbers on my property tax bill are CATS, ebr school system, and the library. Nothing at all concerning entergy or br water(which is private) or any utilities.
And lol at cats being $122.
I acknowledge that entergy does get federal funding through taxes

Increasing taxes is never the solution. No new taxes ever of any kind

Maybe if they used that money to fund an additional jail? Take 1000 of the worst criminals off the street and New Orleans would be 2x better.

Sure. You are not following my line of questions.
The rates are your water bill are likely lower than they otherwise would be if there were no other funding sources from other agencies and taxation.
This goes back to my whole entire point.
If you abolished all the other taxes that are paid in via other sources, your utility bills would shoot through the roof and you would scream bloody murder.
I only brought up property taxes as a funding source because I have no idea how things are funded in Louisiana.
Here in Texas, we have utility districts that are funded via local property taxes that go toward the infrastructure of the utilities.
My point still remains that your utility bills, even the "private" sources are subsidized via other taxation and if those other funding sources were abolished tomorrow would result in higher rates for you.

Yea its not near yours at all and ours is mostly the bus system, school system, park system, and the library. Half the bill you might as well just burn the money downtown in the winter for heat for the homeless.

Nope
But a giant fence and destroying all exit points would be a start.
