I’ve never been before and I’m also not a gambler so maybe I’m not the target audience but Las Vegas is way down my list of places I want to travel to.

Vegas sucks arse.
It was ok when it was dirt cheap but now it’s more expensive than just about anywhere.

Here now for a conference.
Staying in Resorts world and kid you not the place is damn near empty. A few of the casino table games were filled but rest of casino a ghost town. All the shops and restaurants at RW also dead quiet.
Walked all down the strip and went into Wynn/Encore, Venetian/Palazzo, and Paris and Caesars… same thing. Very few people around.
Feels sort of eerie but not sure if this is just their slow season
Vegas tourism is apparently way down.
Canada stopped coming due to politics, they jacked up pricing which keeps the middle class and older crew home and Gen Z and Millennials can sports bet from their couch now.

Didn't look at hotel rates though
Hotel prices arent bad, but when you go to confirm check the fees.
Most of these places are tacking on $150/night for resort fees plus tourism taxes on top of your room rate.

Is Vegas normally this dead?
This time of year, yes, I would expect it to be dead. It's winter...so not really any pool activities and cold as hell at night.

Fontainebleau
Stayed there for When We Were Young festival back in October.
Day pool party was the best I've been to in Vegas...and I have had some good times at Wynn, Encore, etc.
Zero fights, girl-to-guy ratio was F insanely good, did not charge $28 for a tiny chicken strip basket like Encore.

Not to mention its vaguely posted on the digital signs instead of clear acrosst the tables.
I had to play 50 dollar minimum to get 3:2 and got wiped out in 30 minutes.

Yeah I was getting suite offers for the Wynn Encore so I went in, got to the checkout screen, saw the total and was like "wait, what?"

Cliff Notes:
Gaming down 2% - not bad
Occupancy down to 76.1% - quite bad
This guy is blaming Caesars and MGM for causing problems for Las Vegas.
Says they sold their real estate to REIT - says Caesars has to renegotiate their regional leases that cost $720 million in rent quarterly but that they are only taking in $750 million in cash flow quarterly.
A little looking led me to Vici Properties which owns a lot of properties that they lease back to many companies including MGM and Caesars- Vici Properties
Also says that MGM and Caesars have a combined $55 billion in debt.
Don't know if it's true but . . . not a promising picture from what he says

Maybe I’m fantasizing over a period that never truly existed, but I can get 3 buddies to go to the Beau and there is a reasonable chance that 1 or 2 of us will have his portion of the whole trip paid for with their winnings
That just seems impossible in Vegas unless I’m playing with 10k or I’m eating $12 bags of Cheetos from the hotel market for every meal

Vegas isn't dead, they just aren't catering towards regular folks these days. Its all about 400 dollar a night rooms and 150 dollar steaks
Because "regular" folks no longer have to travel there to get there gambling fix on.
Not sure how it is in other states, but Oklahoma is saturate with tribal casinos that are filled with "regular" folks.

Coming to post this. Resorts World is struggling and Vegas is done with the Spirit Airlines crowd. They want the F1 types now
If that’s true, they’re idiots.

They have priced themselves out of regular people, and 20 somethings have no desire to go there anymore
I will see a menu from one of the hotels posted on twitter from time to time and have no idea why anyone would want to pay those prices. I know hotel food is usually overpriced but if you ask me to pay $18 for a miller lite then we have problems.
