Hiw many times have I ran like a maniac thru an airport to catch a connection so I don't get stuck in the airport?
That number is HIGH. Last time I had a full on asthma attack and had to use my rescue inhaler once I got to my seat. Karen next to me put on a mask. I guess she thought it was contagious.

11 hours
Tried to get on an earlier flight out of Wichita to Atlanta then had weather delays and ended up in the tornado shelter at the airport. Finally flew out that evening.
Before the Tornado hit 3/4 of a mile away a plane boarded and then 10 minutes later all of people from that flight came running past our gate.
The flight crew and pilots were last with one of the pilots pointing and saying there is a tornado right out there while pointing SW. Everyone scrambled and headed to the storm shelter.

Longest delay: About 7 hours flying from Dallas to New Orleans during a storm.
Worst experience was this past summer. Middle of June flying from Orlando to Dallas. Storms were on the way so they were trying to load everyone on the plane to beat the weather. We were unsuccessful. We started taxing when they grounded all planes, but the pilots didn't want to lose their spot in line so they cut off the A/C to the cabin to conserve fuel. Middle of June, on a hot, humid afternoon in Orlando, stuck on a packed plane with no A/C for 2 hours. One of the worst experiences of my life.

For me. DFW to Lafayette. I volunteered off a flight for an $800 voucher (I was 22 years old and it was a lot of money for me). It was around 8 am with the next flight being 11 am. Well, wouldn’t you know that 11 was delayed, then they put me on an afternoon flight. Well, that one was cancelled so didn’t get out of DFW till next morning. About a 24 hour ordeal. I slept on the floor in the airport. I would have requested a hotel but I didn’t know any better back then.

twenty six hours in Shanhai Pudong airport. I was young and broke and couldnt afford one of the hotel rooms by the airport I just kept popping .5 mg of Xanax and slept on the chairs the whole time.
I was woken up by people probably 4 times saying "the plane is about to leave" and I had to tell them that my flight wasnt for another 15 hours.

All day in Memphis airport once upon a time.

At 8:00 AM I missed a connecting from Frankfurt to Vilnius, Lithuania. One of those where you running thru the AP and get to the gate just as the doors close and the shuttle is driving off (way different at airports in European countries vs USA airports), Called the agent that handled the travel for the company I worked for and she informed me the next flight would be at 10 PM. That made for one hell of a long day in an airport.
Oh, and by the way...the "TSA" workers in most foreign airports are way different than the clown in the US. They carry AKs and stare at you like you're a terrorist.

Flying home from Germany while in the Air Force. Stuck in Baltimore for 18 hours. I was only 19 so I couldn't rent a car. I could have driven home faster.
I was also stuck in San Antonio for 15 hours.

Had to be American…
American sucks, but weather related cancelations like the ones that happened this week during the freeze/snow/ice in areas not used to it are almost across the board and not specific to any one airline.
I assure you AA was not the only airlines canceling flights out of DFW Sunday and Monday.

Not quite “longest” but had multiple examples of delays that surpassed time it takes to drive to destination
4.5hrs on tarmac from Midway to Detroit
8hrs at Hobby en rte to New Orleans
Those are fun.
Really fun one was overnight in Las Vegas. That one lemonaded…from lemons.

And it was impossible to sleep in the tents, lol.
