“Dogs’ lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you’re going to lose a dog, and there’s going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share her joy or delight in her innocence, because you can’t support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion.
There’s such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware that it comes with an unbearable price.”
– Dean Koontz
I’m very sorry for your loss
It will slowly get better, I lost mine a year & a half ago & here lately I’ve been struggling

Fifteen years is a lot of great memories. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss.
My family knows me as a guy who never cries about anything, just soldiers on through everything.
Wife found me in the bathroom bawling my eyes out after we had to let our Chihuahua go after 16 years when he started struggling to breathe. Only thing in my life that broke me down.
There’s nothing like a good dog in your life.

So sorry for your loss.
Our lab turns 12 next month. Best dog I’ve ever had. Sometimes I hope, when her time comes, she passes gently in her sleep.

One of my favorite dog songs. If you haven’t heard it, it’s worth a listen

Come on, nothing sexual about it. They will stay loyal to the end if you are a good person and treat them right.
Thanks for the downvote.

My sincere sympathies to you. I had to say bye to my best buddy just 4 weeks ago. German Shepherd and he passed just a couple months short of 11 years old.
We live longer than they do so it’s the price we eventually must pay for the time in our lives these wonderful souls provide us with unconditional loyalty and love.
It’s a gut punch but you gave her love and a wonderful home and so many would-be great dogs out there never get that chance. So hopefully you will find some peace and solace in that you gave her that chance and she rewarded you with great years and a great companion.
Again, my sympathies to you.

We don’t deserve dogs.
A great dog is impossible to put into words.
Man’s best friend is an ancient bond that is thousands of years old.

I did not handle it well either when I decided my best bud of 14 years a little Shi Tzu’s time had come. Our vet’s office was unusually dead quiet when we arrived, after a 6 month illness where no test or drug was refused, me hoping he’d be cured. Was not to be, they must have known I’d break down thus no other patients in the lobby.
Cried like a little boy after the injection, when they came to take him away for cremation I wouldn’t let him go, wrapped in a blanket his eyes closed in peace in my lap. Wife understood and asked them to return in ten minutes. I’d only had hunting breeds before him, those eventually crossed the rainbow bridge too but this was different. Followed me everywhere his nickname was Velcro.
I have a 30 year unopened bottle of Irish whiskey to pour one out tonight for your very good girl.
My condolences on your loss.

My heart goes out to you and your family. I posted not long ago about having to make call on 16 year old chihuahua. Still no where close to being over it and not sure I will ever will be. Still look for him daily in the morning and every evening when I get home. But my thoughts and prayers will be with you. Hopefully it gets better
