I only put my hazards on when there is a hazard, like a sudden stop or a condition where I have to reduce speed to the point that someone inattentive may hit me.

Uh yea it’s been illegal. There are actually people out there that believe if they turn their hazards on it gives them a free pass to speed because it shows they have an emergency.

His post was meant to say (right or wrong), or perhaps imply, but not infer.
To infer is to derive as a conclusion from facts or premises. A person sees smoke and infers fire. To imply is to suggest something to another person, usually not expressly stated. The speaker does the implying, and the listener does the inferring.
The difference between imply and infer may go extinct soon. Like lightning and lightening, many people now use them interchangeably.

It has always been illegal just never really enforced.
Pretty simple if they would put on a rain suit which they are provided, stop people for this, and issue citations this would be enforcing the law. I guess this is new to the State Police.

I disagree that this is a bad practice. During huge down pours when traffic is forced to slow down to 10 to 20 mph, there is always some idiot in a big truck that can”t possibly see past his hood that wants to keep driving 65 mph. I don’t want that idiot slamming into the back of me. I’ll get off the interstate at the first exit, but I’m putting my flashers on like 90% of the other drivers in those severe down pours. I doubt DPS is going to be enforcing it during those conditions any way.

Brake lights still come on when you press the brakes if your hazards are on. Same as they do when your turn signal is on...
