But let's say for some reason you are right. Let's say that the bouncer for some reason didn't use the scanner and just gave her a wristband. How does that mean that 9 other people should also be sued?

The only people that could potentially be expected to come out of pocket other than the rapists are the bartenders, but I'd imagine there's a clause in their contracts (if they had employment contracts with reggies) that forces reggies' insurer to pick them up.

I wonder how often the bartenders are just tipped out/paid cash under the table instead of being technically employed by the bar.

I could be wrong, but I don't think that is the case most of the time. I do think that the majority of their pay comes from under the table tip payouts in order to avoid taxes, but I think they are still contractually employed by the bar as well.

Nothing like some money to teeter that devastating emotional toll people encounter.

Sounds like the kind of guy who would raise a chick who would get shitfaced in a college bar in get into a car with a bunch of seedy looking strange men in the middle of the night.

What a stupid freaking thing to say. I assume you have no children or just think it is cool to shite on someone who lost their child. I assume he is just pissed at the world and his lawyer suggested suing everyone. I do not agree with it, But to take an ignorant stance that he and his daughter are in the wrong is insensitive. Reggie's and its owners, along with the animals who did this to her need to be held responsible. Reggie's needs to pay and be shut down permanently.

Jan. 14, 2023: Madison Brooks went to Reggie’s Bar around 10 p.m. Though she was underage, she received a wristband stating she was over 21, and that night she received 24 alcoholic beverages and fell four times, the suit alleges. Her blood-alcohol content levels later indicated that she had impaired functions, and John Brooks' legal team believes that she was visibly intoxicated and shouldn't have been served.

After 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 15, Madison Brooks was seen leaving with four men who brought her into a car, later pulling over, when two of the men sexually assaulted her, the suit alleges. Afterward, Madison was let out of the car. At 2:50 a.m., she was hit by a Lyft driver on Burbank Drive near Pelican Lakes Parkway.

First time Ive seen a reference to timeline and specific number of drinks and how many times she fell. With it being so specific, must be documented on the cameras. Pretty damning.

First time seeing this too. Yikes. Please talk to your kids about limits, consequences, the buddy system, alcohol poisoning, overdosing, fentanyl, and all of the dangers in the world.

Damn that’s an insane amount of alcohol. That type of drinking is a death wish.

Received and viewed drinking or received and handed out to other underaged friends (who relied on the friend with wristband for drinks)?

She didn’t consume 24 drinks in 3 hours There is a reason the suit says “received”

24 drinks in 3 hours would kill most men

24 drinks in 3 hours outs a 170 lb person at a 0.55 BAC. it’s almost sure death

For someone her size the BAC would be like 0.7 BAC

ETA: just put it in a calculator. Would have a 120 lb persons BAC at 0.91. Not even remotely possible

It will be difficult to assign liability to the men who dropped her off. Their actions may have been despicable after they left the bar and raped her, but once they let her out of the car neither the driver or the other passengers had any responsibility for what she did or what anyone else did. In fact the men who were not driving had no control over her or the drive.

Maybe if parents would actually adult up and parent instead of trying to be their kids' bff to get one over on their ex, this kind of preventable thing wouldn't happen. So many people are stuck up their own asses and try to justify to themselves that pursuing a Jody or a side chick is "good" because it makes them "happy". They forget (or don't care?) that their highest duty is to properly raise the young lives they bring into the world.

This case is disturbing on so many levels. Of course the young males should not have acted like rabid hyenas around unguarded fresh meat. Their parents failed to teach them right from wrong, and there is only one thing that can be done with rabid hyenas. But her parents failed her, too.
