Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall...
For the times they are a-changin'

The only complaint I have about DST is that it makes it hard to wind down when it doesn’t get dark til nearly 9. To me, if it got dark about 7 year round, that would be perfect.

Yeah I'm usually in bed at 9 during the work week. It's irrelevant to me if it's daylight past 7. Your mileage may vary though

This is something Democrats and Republicans both agreed on, so you know, God forbid we can’t have any kind of success like this, so let’s shelve the bill.
Can’t have bipartisan legislation with zero spending attached

Just move closer to the equator. Problem solved.

Kids hanging on the side of the road in the dark waiting on a school bus isn't exactly a great idea.
This already happens.

Also makes it shitty for people who have to be at work and get started at 6-7 am.
If anyone does this, it’s because of sunlight. And if it’s not because of sunlight, who cares?
Changing clocks is a shock to the system and should be discontinued.

There is a new bill reintroduced last week. Same bill but Rubio just added “of 2023” onto it.

Why do we allow politicians to rob us of an hour each spring?

I wish they would just meet in the middle and either spring ahead only 30 minutes one spring. Or fall back only 30 minutes one fall.
Meet in the middle and call it a day.
Leave it at standard time, like most of the rest of the world and be done with it. Do not vote for a permanent Daylight savings time.

Yeah I'm usually in bed at 9 during the work week.
If the sun is up after I finish my 9-5, I'm outside working on something while enjoying an adult beverage. Love this time of year coming up.

Edit to say , if it would happen, it won't last long just like it didn't last long in the 60's when it was done.
That wasn't the 60s, it was the early 70s as a result of the energy crisis:
The US Tried Permanent Daylight Savings Time in the 70s -People Hated It.
Only lasted from January 1974 to August 1974. I remember it as a 9 year old boy waiting for the school bus in the dark. To hell with that.

I remember hearing that we may stay in daylight savings time from here on out. According to google there’s a chance…
Google: Section 260a to authorize states to observe daylight saving time year round. In 2022, the United States Senate passed a bill to make Daylight Saving Time permanent. If enacted, this bill would take effect starting in November 2023.
Will it happen?
No, and it should be the other way, Permanent Standard Time.

Why Are Sunrises So Important? [L]ack of morning light can have serious impact on our biological clocks, which control the body’s many daily rhythms, including our sleep and wakefulness cycle. Humans require adequate morning light so that our internal biological rhythms synchronize properly to the local time. There’s a wealth of data demonstrating that a lack of exposure to light leads to sleep and metabolic disorders, depression and cardiovascular disease, among other ailments… Permanent Standard Time is the only fair and viable option.

We need that morning sunlight.

This is correct. It's part of the reason why our bodies crave sleep the worst just before sun up when you stay awake all night.
quote:
The circadian clock has an internally driven 24-hour rhythm that tends to run longer than 24 hours but resets every day by the sun's light/dark cycle.
The circadian clock is why airlines often use two crews on flights that are scheduled to fly during the night and into the next morning.

Meh, i personally enjoy spending outdoors after work in the sun.
WE currently spend 8 months of the year in daylight savings. Come October, when the days get shorter, it's a bit nonsensical for it to be 430 pm and it's already getting dark.
Not sure how making DST permanent is going to be detrimental to school children since most of their school year is in DST anyway. Sounds like most people that complain about DST are either shut ins or old people who are set in their ways.
Oh, also, Seasonal Affective Disorder is classified as a mental health illness. It happens during standard time. Wonder why that is.
