Honestly, if they would been given the school district/control of the school system that they asked for initially, this wouldn’t be happening.

Well, well, well ... if it isn’t the consequences of my own actions.

Scruffy wants to see a study that looks at the diversity of the consulting firms that are hired to perform studies.

You know the amount of diversity present in a pack of printer paper? That’s what I expect it to look like

Diversity in their terms just means less white people, nothing more, nothing less

That’s because they don’t want diversity of ideas and experience. They just want diversity that is literally only skin deed

Construction jobs are given to the low bidder. Broome probably wants quotas instead of awarding work to the low bidders.

She probably wants EBR to be like NO where there are hard quotas and set asides.

I think that's the direction she's headed with all of this. Watch the road plan carefully.

But...

St. George needs Baton Rouge more than Baton Rouge needs St. George.

Also, this is conceding that at current tax rates, St. George will have over $48 million in revenue.

Last year they told us SG would only have 45 million dollars of revenue.

Now they claim 48 million and tell us we only get about half of that in services.

It's a money grab plain and simple.

When the taxpayers requested that they get similar amounts that they paid back in services, they were told no and called names. They have been robbed of $23 million per year and are tired of the lunacy.

That doesn't make them racist. That makes them fiscally responsible. Sharon Hyphen Broome has a fiduciary responsibility to them, as well as the other quadrants of the parish. Instead of working to achieve any goals, she has had lunch on their dime countless times, paid endless money for studies that they were unready to act on, And hired her a con-man to be her arm candy. None of this is in the job description.

She is simply an inept carpetbagger, raised in the land of the community organizer-in-chief.

Can I get a “new kid in town” breakdown of what is happening here?

Sounds like chickens are coming home to roost.

People have been saying for years that the unincorporated area is getting hosed in favor of BR and politicians called them liars.

Now that those people have been pushed into going for a city and it looks like it’s going to happen, those same politicians are admitting what they said was true.

I'm all for St George happening, but I'm also highly skeptical it will ultimately be any different.

Baton Rouge stopped incorporating residential areas in the late 70s / early 80s when the population shifted to the unincorporated eastern part of the parish.

Now a large chunk of what was nominally Baton Rouge wants self control of its finances and schools and incorporated BR is losing its shite because they have been using that area to pay for all parish services instead of BR paying their share of that.

Might as well try and find out instead of the status quo.

Pretty much.

It doesn’t help that the BR politicians overplayed their hand badly. Everything they did to block St George or an Independent School District just pissed people off more.

It helped choose the two candidates in the runoff for mayor last time around and Broome’s utter incompetence and “frick white people” policies helped take a dormant St George movement and push it past the finish line.
