No, men don’t nap.

You probably need to get your T checked. Hand in your man card until you get it straightened out.

“Why we sleep” by Mathew Walker has some good insights and studies done on the topic of napping

TLDR - short naps improve your overall health

A proper nap should be 10-25 minutes. Anymore and I feel groggy or have trouble sleeping. I take a nap every single day.

we used to take a "sleep" class as part of annual recurrent training because just about everything we do is on the back side of our circadian rhythm, pretty interesting stuff, really puts you to sleep

Lotsa evidence to support this.

Never. I never take a nap. I stay moving seems like I never stop. ADD definitely.

I'm sleepy all of the time and never get enough sleep no matter how hard I try, but if I try to take a nap, I can't because I can't stop thinking about random things. I'm assuming this is ADD as well.

I nap fairly often during the work week. I will lie down for about an hour after work.

...and this doesn't affect your sleep at night?

I have not taken a nap in about 30 years. I would assume that this is not normal.

nearly daily

I wake up every work day at 4:00 am so my internal clock wakes me up the same on Sat/Sun.

I get up and do a bunch of stuff early then get a nap around 2 pm

This.

Nap usually only last 45 minutes to an hour.

In bed by 8pm most days.

Consistency is the secret sauce. Going to bed and waking at the same time seven days a week is a cheat code.

Just because your entire family gets up before daylight doesn’t mean that makes you better than anyone. Practically every older person in my life has played the “get up, you’re burning daylight” card if you choose to sleep past 7 AM. Screw that. Practically all of them get up early, drink coffee and piddle with random, unproductive shite, then take an extended nap in the middle of the day, daring anyone to tell them that they’re burning daylight when they do it.

Just quoting this b/c i think it bears re-reading .

It’s wild how people think they are somehow more ‘alpha’ or something b/c they wake up crazy early - and then they need a nap later in the day .. ill never understand how that makes any sense .

I nap for about an hour a day. I have a rare genetic blood disease that makes me sleepy around lunchtime. Didn't find this out until the army. Naps are awesome

I get up crazy early. I don’t nap, but I will admit that turning into a zombie at 8 every night has its own set of problems because the normal world around you doesn’t stop at 8 every night.

yeah they're usually the same people who brag about working 16 hour days like that is a good thing.

I’m not 50 yet but already decided to stop doing this on weekends. If anything, a 30 minute cat nap in the recliner gets me right

Not so sure about naps but sleep is vital to overall health.
3 keys to a healthy life and longevity...sleep. diet, and exercise.
