Those of us raised in the south are wont to say "yes ma'am" and "no sir" to strangers out of politeness and having been raised right. I have had people get mad with me for it because it made them feel old. Thats a them problem, not a me problem. I try to avoid saying it when I am not certain today but if it happens and I am wrong Im only human, we all make mistakes. Get the frick over it.

The actual danger is that many in the GOP and their supporters suffer from the delusion that they kicked the Democrats asses in November in some sort of historical mandate. In fact the margin was the fifth smallest in presidential races in the last 124 years. I fully understand that winning is better than, like, losing but pretending as if you have received a mandate when you have a generational personality running for re-election who received the second most votes ever in a presidential election 4 years earlier against a candidate no one voted for in a primary and you win by the fifth smallest margin in 124 years you do not have a mandate you have the fifth smallest victory in 124 years. This is the problem with political parties and politicians...one of them has to win, when they do they always pretend like they were the overwhelming pick of the majority. It does happen at times....it did not happen in 2024...by comparison Biden's "mandate", which I am sure he and his campaign proclaimed, was 140% of Trumps in 2024....there was no mandate, someone was going to win and it was Trump. Why it has to be bigger than it was is beyond me, it is still historical....

There's a big difference between saying people can't say something (eg threatening to kill someone) and forcing/compelling people to say something. Even more ridiculous when that "thing" is factually inaccurate. Not sure how this stands up from a Constitutional perspective.
