So you do not think there should be any rules about attire?

If a public school, non-obscene forms of dress will do just fine.

If a private school, no one can regulate but the school in my humble opinion.

A girl wearing pants should have even blipped on their radar.

I wore a dress to mu junior prom. At a catholic High school. Why? Because it was funny fricking with the administrators.

Also... I freeballed in a moomoo. It was so damned convenient later on...

They needed to ignore her and let her wear the tux.

This also should not be anything remotely close to a national news story.

This gets more coverage than California's water issues?

And the only reason she is getting attention is because the school officials made a stupid decision.

Why would you quote one person and reply to another?

Looks like a man.

Therefore I'd allow her to wear it.

She's the butch so it's ok

Agree.

I didn't notice it when I was high school like I do now that I'm not in high school, but they have some really weird rules.

Dress codes in some schools are beyond insane.

Two things.

First...anytime some jackass guy wears some crazy style tux, it's about "attention." Likewise, anytime some skank wears some slutty prom dress to prom, it's about "attention." Congrats...you've just described why most high school kids do half the shite they do... We can go ahead and stop pretending that attention seeking is monopolized by homosexuals.

Second...the only reason this has gotten any attention at all is because the school felt the need to be so tone deaf in a social media world that they decided to deny her request for no logical reason. Had they ok'ed it, she'd have shown up to Prom in her tux and the only attention it would have potentially gotten then would have been some jackasses who would have felt the need to feign outrage over some chick in pants.

I wonder what % of the population now thinks gender is a social construct?

Just 9-10 years ago my high school had an official gender bender day. Balloon tits and wigs everywhere.

Never imagined the subject would become an issue like it is today

It's pretty petty on the school's part

If she wants to look like a dumbass, then let the gal look like a dumbass. she's now going to look like a total count ruining the experience for everyone else

why she asked beforehand if it's okay doesn't make sense to me anyways. she's technically more covered up than the rest of the girls, so that's difficult to refute.

i can only imagine monroe's life coaches, the Robertson's, will grace us all with their two cents on the matter

lucky you. At my prom we had a dude wear a dress. He would also apply makeup during class on occasion. He was asked to leave, but it didn't make any news because honestly, it wasn't a big deal.

I hate that we live in a world where this is news
But you don't hate that we live in a world with the discrimination part?

Know how I know you hate gay people?

As a high schooler, I'd probably prefer to not have so much media attention drawn towards a unique, memorable experience

"Ruining it for everyone" might be a bit hyperbolic, but i'm sure the students would prefer the school just let her dress like she wants and be done with it

In this day and age kids are more and more growing up with the idea that "the rules don't apply to me."
So, your argument is to be a sheep and when there are rules you feel are unjust, just keep your mouth shut and do what your old?
