So waiters only claim about $2000 more on their taxes than fast food workers. Bunch of frauds serving your meals.

Many realtors do not. They often spend tons of time on certain potential buyers and end up with nothing to show for it (as many/most agents are straight commission).

And when the market tanked, it washed out thousands of realtors because at first stuff wasn't moving, and then the stuff that did move was at such a low price there wasn't really anything coming in terms of the commission.

But what exactly does a real estate agent do for someone that the internet can't?

I guess being paid $2.35 an hour plus tips is just too much for some people.

The modern waitress prefers and appreciative smile over a tawdry handout.

Any nurse could do that job and probably with a better smile.

If the nurse went to 4 more years of school she could be doing that job.

Maybe they are not aware of how much malpractice insurance costs for a surgeon.

How do waiters end up on this list?

Tipping is optional, personally I opt out. No Tipping = no over-paying for waiters.

Eh, FWIW our realtor, who is a close friend but also pretty widely sought, has been really helpful.

We could do it without her, but she has a ton of contacts and finds lots of stuff we're not paying attention to. Also, despite us all being natives, she's more adept at steering us to schools and neighborhoods, and it helps that her husband (buddy of mine) and her are building their own residential portfolio and they've provided a lot of good advice about the prospects and costs of enhancing properties we're looking at.

The way I see an overpaid profession is, are there people willing to do it for a lower cost or for free???

That's a silly way to look at it. Almost every job there will be someone that would do it for less money. Nobody is going to do anything for free.

I found it interesting in the link that so many people in the overpaid professions were in agreement that they are overpaid.

I've run across a few idiots in my line of work who felt that way. Dumbasses!

There is no such thing as an overpaid profession in a free market.
