Drug addicts in Oregon have come up with a scheme that sees them using their food stamps to buy cases of water which they then immediately empty out in order to obtain a 0.10 cents bottle deposit to then buy drugs with.
Video footage shot in a parking lot on Portland sees one group of people with shopping carts full of pallets of bottled water, only to have them empty the contents out on the ground.

Have you seen how many people apparently can’t get a voter ID?

Should go back to the days of government cheese and such. The scammers will have work-arounds before the ink is dry on the regs.

Does this really do anything? Chips, crackers, and cereal are still eligible.

Depending on the type of work boots, this might cause SNAP enrollment to increase. I’d sign up for a quarterly delivery of Red Wings

Require ID for it. These stipends are going to get sold for $0.50 on the dollar.

Can the taxpayers support 750,000 people on welfare? The population of the state is 4.6 million. How many of those 4.6 million are working or retired taxpayers?
Vast majority work. Because we allow for programs like SNAP the unskilled wage market gets retarded and companies capitalize on the government largesse by underpaying or giving reduced hours to lowskiller workers to shift the cost of their labor to taxpayers.
Walmart is especially bad at this. The answer is to get rid of SNAP and let the labor market fix itself.

OR....
"Disabled" adults with no jobs or those doing the bare minimum would have incentive to get off their asses and work hard.
You know... like humans have been doing for tens or hundreds of thousands of years to survive.

I've seen this comment in the other threads, but I feel like bottled water should be okay. Especially poor people in potentially really poor quality water areas. This SNAP restriction just opens to door for more future restrictions which is exactly what the majority around here want.
40 bottles of Wal-Mart water is like 5 dollars. A gallon is like a dollar. I think a 12 pack of soda is nearly 9 dollars. You'd think most people would be okay with at least water, but I realize this is the OT.

Bring back EBT aisles... stock it with rice, beans, powdered milk, and canned tuna.
Watch how fast we have money to fix shite with.
