did they do this diverging diamond interchange for the new NOLA airport?
yes, change to ground-level Loyola underpass interchange.
Has no influence/relation to the new flyover ramps directly to/from the airport.

Much of Highland Road traffic is Prairieville residents. They travel down Hwy 42, right on Airline, then either turn on Old Perkins or Highland to get to the interstate.
I don't see how a Pecue exit is going to help with that source of traffic.
I mean it may not be a great difference, but obviously an extra avenue & route to choose from will help to some degree.

Spanish Lake is on the other side of I-10.
There is nearly nothing between the interstate and the Jefferson/Airline intersection.
They could even run a road from Henry Road/Airline out to the interstate.
West (Bluff) side of the interstate doesn't have an ideal location for exit/entrance ramps. Bluff road is only 2 lane and not currently built to handle much more traffic. Intersections at C.Braud, and 74 are busy as is, let alone C.Braud at 73, and 73 at 74 light, so something does need to be done.
Making 73 four lane from the 74 (Harvest) light intersection back to Hwy 30 NEEDS TO HAPPEN. Plant & school traffic suck.
I-10 east bound traffic exit to highland gets backed up so it sure could use another exit between there and 73/Prairieville, which is 6.3 miles.
The light at Old Perkins/Bluff gets backed up. I've seen plans for a round about there, but no idea when that may happen. Hell adding right turning lane at the light cutting into the corner of the church's large property would work wonders!
Henry Rd extension seems doable for east side, but they may have to do just a west bound exit like Drusilla on I-12, which would not help east bound highland exit unless they design a left hand exit for the east bound side.

Perkins needs to be widened from Siegen to Highland. That will be a long term cluster F when it happens.
My firm and I completed the Stage 0 Study for that, including conceptual engineering, traffic analysis, and environmental, for the LADOTD...

Build it like the Gramercy exit

That whole area became a lot more traveled and occupied and development followed after Performance Contractors located there.
I don't think that is a coincidence.
Performance has been there for like 35 years.

Widening of Perkins from Siegen to Pecue is about to start. It’s a MOVEBR project

Yea. I know. I did work for them since whenever they were just four guys. What’s your point?

When I first heard the name of the road, I always thought it was spelled Picou as in someone's last name from down the bayou, but I guess the Baton Rouge/Up da bayou way was Pecue.

The lights are terribly mis-timed. It seems to be causing large backups, especially when driving from Woman's hospital South (?) toward the interstate. You'd think that would have been something they'd address before turning them on, but I pray that they fix it going forward.
I cross the new intersection every day going the opposite direction, and it's added a solid 5 minutes to my drive time (which is purely the result of the light timing, not increased traffic).

Dear lord. It is definitely needed, but can we just fast-forward like 10 years into the future to when it is completed? I travel that stretch every single day to work and various other things and the construction phase of that will be a severe pain in the arse.

Typical DOTD.
That is sad that a DOTD project in Louisina could span the entire career of an engineeer.
My favorite are the projects they put on paper only to cancel later on.

I can guarantee there will be accidents with people turning left out of Woodridge.
It was hard enough to do it with two lanes of traffic.
I don’t understand why they didn’t put a traffic circle there, or at least a light.
There are wrecks on every road every day because drivers are idiots, no big major prediction here.

Does anyone know how far they are going to extend Rieger Road on the east side of Pecue? Looks like some businesses are popping up there and it looked like they were building a bridge to cross Ward Creek.
Would seriously help traffic if that road could somehow connect through to Highland, but I know that construction company is probably in the way.

It won't. Compare the amount of people turning right on Highland to the amount turning left to go home to Prairieville.
Yeah now that you mention it.. everyone is pretty much going left (including myself).. So what's the purpose of this damn exit again??
wonder if I can't get off there and take airline into PVille

Pecue lane used to be that secret only locals knew about. Now everyone knows. No more quick routes as traffic piles up. I am glad Reiger Road is opened to Pecue.

Should help for people's morning commute to Siegen/Industriplex/Airline. That Siegen exit going west on I-10 is often backed up onto the interstate because there is only one right turn lane.
